About this deal

Before we dive in, if you are only interested in my general thoughts, feel free to skip to the bottom of my review. We're meeting her real parents for the first time, which is HUGE, and we don't even get their hair color until the end? A Very Large Expanse of Sea reads like a beautiful heart – one that shines and aches and yearns, and above all else, one that loves fiercely against all odds.

Ella and Nazeera on the other hand catch up about their lives, and Nazeera tells Ella how she came to the truth of who they were–she has been hacking into her parents’ databases, and Emmaline helped her find out the truth. While it may not be the thrilling, action-packed book I expected, I can’t wait to see where it goes next. My Verdict: My heart literally broke for Aaron and Ella–all those years they have tried to be together, find their way back to each other, and each time their memories were removed, and they were made to forget each other. But Mafi, of course, had other plans as we find out that Anderson has managed to take some of Sonia and Sara’s healing powers. They did so many horrible things to Aaron and Julliete even removing their memories each and everytime but the fact that they would always found their way back to each other is enough to say that they are ✨️ SOULMATES✨️ I mean they always fell in love with other no matter where they met and how they met. They never had a moment of looking at each other with the weight of new memories on their backs, and they never even talked about their shared history other than “do you remember me? This review is going to sound really negative, but truthfully, I think this book has equal parts good and bad. The group is taken to their quarters, and Ella and Aaron have a lovely time together, and Aaron proposes to Ella, despite warnings from Kenji that he should get her a ring. Just when you think you finally understand what this world is like, and what’s going on, another twist is thrown at you. My heart hurts for Emmaline and what they did to her mind and body 💔😭 I wish they found a way for her to live.

Some chapters were really hard to read but Kenji and Nazeera's sweet and angry moments made it easy to read this book.

There are also so many many plot twists in this book, including revelations about the world and the past the Juliette and Warner have. The scenes were disjointed and the majority of the chapters had some form of a flashback included in them. Suddenly, the plane’s engines are shot out, and Ella comes up with a plan–Nazeera can fly, and Warner can use Nazeera’s powers to help them fly as well.

It’s not that I don’t intend to or want to, it’s just… So many books release that I’m interested in so other books are pushed to the back of my mind!At first I found this a bit frustrating because the memories would only come back in short spasms, and then we’d immediately go right back to Kenji. As a result, it makes sense why she would ask to die–for her it’s the kindest thing that she could do to herself.
