About this deal

However, in the case of the set under review, the very proportions of the boom make it impossible to “close” the bucket and raise the boom without spilling the cargo.

Contact Us LEGO, the LEGO logo, the Minifigure, and the Brick and Knob configurations are trademarks of the LEGO Group of Companies. Real machines would have an independent means to do the latter but that was presumably not possible in a model of this size and in any case, thanks to the clever linkage between arm and bucket, it works very well, and well enough to scoop things up and drop them again. Obviously, a fully transparent element would suit better, but I like to see the designers making the best of what they have available at the movement. As someone who has actually driven this kind of vehicle "for real", I can only say that the windshield is - in my opinion - a very reasonable approximation: in the places and settings these machines are used, things are dirty! Previous excavators of this design have been large models, and it's not that easy to judge the size of this one from the picture on the box, so here it is with a minifig.

Though again, I may sound like a hypocrite saying I'll get this set anyway in spite of that, but that's because I don't let a single glaring issue turn me away from a set entirely. This 2 in 1 LEGO Technic Heavy-Duty Excavator (42121) toy has plenty of features for hours of creative play.

I said at the start that it is 'almost the perfect Technic model' but unfortunately the frosted windscreen prevents it from being faultless. Then there's a parallel between blue pin complaints and complaints about the colour locking of mixel joints. Thanks for the shot with the minifig ( and, of course, the goat:), as it is really hard to judge the size. Sure, the arm is a similar function, but the rest of the vehicle looks great and completely different. This is directly controlled - the knob on the back and one on the right side each drive a segment of the arm. With the authentic cabin and control panel to explore, it's easy for kids to imagine life on a construction site with this cool excavator toy. The finished model is one of the neatest LEGO Technic models of recent years and definitely, one of the best-looking LEGO Technic excavators ever released.
