About this deal

This was a great activity and the children have taken a lot from it, I’m following it up this week with other activities about the farm and food and will share those soon. I hope that you are finishing this filled with inspiration and lots of ideas to get you started creating your own Sensory Farm Play for your toddler. The Giraffes Can't Dance tuff tray was created using different coloured rice for the Giraffe (dyed using food colouring) and salt for the moon. We are finishing off our farms week this week and have had our Tuff spot farm world out every day since Thrusday!

I added artificial flowers to the left and right side of the tuff tray and added some artificial leaves on top of them. Edible sensory play is perfect for little ones that might put things in their mouth and this yummy edible mud makes the best mud for small plastic farm animals, whilst also being safe for babies and toddlers. Again, there is lots of learning potential behind this tray including motor movements, mark-making and imagination play. This is the quickest and least messy of my Farm Animal Tuff Tray ideas, and therefore probably the one I set up the most! They sat in among the animals and really started to interact with all the materials and accessories.Your children can spend hours playing with the tuff tray and learning about different animals, what they eat, and what areas of the farm they live on.

I am a 44 year old, home educating mummy, passionate about picture books, children's literature and learning through play.Naturally we then ended up tipping the contents of the bowl into the tuff tray and using it as a splash pad. The children really enjoy playing outside in the garden and as part of a Minibeast topic this was a perfect opportunity to set up a Bug Tuff Tray. Mr D looked at me as if I was mad so I decided that we really ought to do a bit of something around where food comes from. This messy play tray is a hands-on learning experience that promotes concept development and provides children with a knowledge and understanding of the world by discussing where the animals and their environments can be found.
