GLINT is similar in that most of the story occurs as Auren travels with the Fourth Kingdom’s army to Fifth Kingdom. It got better than it started, not because of the “plot twists” (I saw ALL of them coming from a million miles away. The Plated Prisoner series a dark fantasy retelling of the King Midas story follows Auren who for ten years has stood by the side of King Midas. Auren faces multiple journeys, one of course being physical with the army traveling across the frozen tundra of the land, the journey of gaining her sense of confidence and freedom, her slowly developing feelings for Commander Rip as he shows her respect and allows her to grow at her own pace and slowly reveals to her the manipulation that Midas had infected her mind with over the last decade she’s been the golden kings beloved.

Are people so content in ignorance that they’ll believe every lie fed to them, despite what they right in front of their eyes? He rescued me when I was at my lowest, and because of that, I thought staying with him would keep me at my highest.

This sparks confusion from Auren as she inwardly wars with the love and history she shares with Midas and her newfound “freedom. In reality I probably should have seen one of them coming, but I was so caught up in Auren’s self discovery journey that I remained oblivious.

Seiler has masterful command of a subtle style, both skittish and firm in its diction and movement, tense and tensile in its branching extensions and jittery vertiginous drops. I’m so frustrated this was split in two books like this, ughh this could’ve been executed so much better! I bet you’ve even met a man who plays it cool, acts like it’s her choice what she does with her captive mind and soul…maybe you have.

Sorry if that seems mean, but with how character driven this story is, the pacing is definitely on the longer and slower and more methodical side.

I think the third book is coming out next month if I'm not wrong and I CANNOT wait because Book 2 ended with yet another great cliffhanger.One I subconsciously guessed in the sense that I felt that question form in my head, but shoved it down so I wouldn’t spoil it for myself.
