A book idea started to rapidly take shape in my mind and in that new idea Narwhal was no longer sullen, but a character filled with unabashed joy.
The perfect first book for young 5 year-old, 6 year-old, 7 year old and 8 year-old readers looking for funny, high interest books that are an accessible read, where they'll discover the joys of friendship,.A book that would grace any school library or book corner for browsing, but also a book that would link very well with topics on the theme of sustainability, conservation and adaptation of species, particularly for the 7+ age group, though younger readers will find it absorbing just by following the illustrations and bold narrative.
In SUPER NARWHAL AND JELLY JOLT (the second book), you’ll see that the characters have continued to grow and evolve. Though out these pages, these adorable joy-filled pages, we learn about what friendship really means. Ever-sensible Jelly isn’t so sure that’s the best idea, but is all for Narwhal trying new things (instead of just eating waffles all the time, no matter how delicious waffles are). Jelly tries to work out his jealousy in story two, and in story three, the new trio say “Ahoy, adventure! Small text offers narwhal facts throughout and young explorers can read more on the future of this fascinating creature in the back matter.I kinda expected something more cohesive, but at least we get to see a pod-dance and a watch the cuties eat WAFFLES! It was a bit like a graphic novel, a bit like a picture book, and definitely something that would be hard to find the right shelf for because there wasn’t a lot quite like it.
