Overall, I would say Elixir's longevity is on another level and projection is slightly better, but the smell is very similar, Elixir is more sophisticated but Asad is still incredible. Does it smell good or does it just have an extremely strong sillage, this is the question that keeps me from sleeping. I'm not usually into mixing/layering fragrances but I tried a few sprays of Armani's Stronger with You (which I think is superb) plus a couple of sprays of Asad (in different places) and this worked very well, smelled great, at least to me. It was never bad, but it improved into something much better and a lot more characteristic than what it originally was, and it keeps improving. The biggest changes I smell, is the more prominent Vanilla note (which I actually think is a great addition here (vanilla is not noted in sauvage elixir notes).When it starts to dry down, that’s when I get a shadow of the Sauvage DNA—I feel there’s ambroxan in this fragrance.
After the spices dry it becomes sweet and i really dont like the sweetness combined with dior's spices.the initial opening is very strong and "middle eastern" but once the drydown comes it's much more sweet and the amber and vanilla really shines through making it a very pleasant but still strong scent. I also selected spring as a season, as I'm sure once it has reached its peak scent-wise, that will also be applicable. this is indeed like 70% similar to Sauvage Elixir bit Asad has this weird odd oriental notes that Sauvage does not have. Mystique of the east and the minimalism of west come together in this collection of highly desirable young unisex perfumes, bursting with joyous energy and spunk.
