About this deal

I then have wiser smart TRV’s on all other rads in the house, set up in different zones (bedrooms/kitchen/landing etc). Assuming the room thermostat is in the right place, TRVs can be manually adjusted to reduce the temperatures in individual rooms. Regardless, Smart radiator valves are designed to provide comfort, convenience and Energy-Saving Features to help you lower your energy bills. In most cases I would have rooms that are not being used at that particular time set back to 16 degrees - cool enough to save energy but not so cold as to take an age to warm up to comfort levels when you want to use them. but now I am thinking- if tell the bedroom to heat up 9-11pm, and the living room 5-10pm etc- will this just mean the boiler is on from 5-11pm?

I have a TRV in the Living Room and main stat is the bedroom, with both rooms on the same schedule and target temps, with Eco and Comfort modes set in the app and I find that once the target temp is reached either by the stat or TRV, then I find this leads how the boiler fires. In general, somewhat disappointed with the control characteristics of the system, can only describe the radiator stat's action as "on/off" control, can not see any attempt at achieving "proportional" action as was quite normal with the old dumb TRV's they are replacing, radiators are either piping hot or off, no modulated "in between" point. I have 24 months of data at 5 minute intervals for each zone and can easily see how often the boiler fires up for heating or temperature variations over the day. Not sure if it helps to know but the reason I'm getting this system is that at the moment we currently have a wired room thermostat in the kitchen which isn't a good place for it as the temperature fluctuates a lot depending on if we're cooking or not.So if I had both the thermostat and a smart TRV in there would it react to the thermostat or the TRV? Smart TRVs also improve comfort by giving the user the ability to adjust the temperature of a radiator, usually on a scale of 1-5. The behaviour is as you describe - calibration runs for a good few seconds as the motor winds down to find the closed position. The main message I got from the video is that the small energy savings made by turning down, or off, rooms individually are lost due to the gas boiler now running less efficiently. The boiler will be on until the air around the thermostat reaches the temperature you have set it to and then it will tell the boiler to switch off.

If I had smart TRV’s on my living room rads then I don’t see what benefit I’d get from having the wall stat in that room too? You may know this already but the room where your ‘wall’ thermostat is should not have radiators with smart thermostats fittedNo, I didn't know it shouldn't be positioned in a room with rads with smart TRV's!

Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH). So just bought my first place finally in the UK, and funny thing, the seller lost the remote from the thermostat.
