Jem also makes a re-appearance, but Hetty has always been restless and it's time she chose where she really wants to be. Hetty's mum was not believable because somehow she spoke through Hetty which did not make sense to me but maybe Hetty's mum could be Hetty herself.

A brilliant end-of-series novel, the sort with just the right amount of tragedy, love, adventure and excitement.I actually see quite a bit of myself in her, serious and useful when needed but hyper, upbeat and unable to settle at other times. Leaving her mother's death bed she travels to a small fisheries town where she meets her father, his wife and their two children. Emerald Star is a brilliant book, but don’t make the mistake I made-I am reading this book now, and I haven’t read Hetty Feather or Saphire Battersea yet! I don't think anything could be better about this book as it is just pure words straight out of Hetty through fantastic Jacqueline Wilson.
