anything said is so out of context bc me just repeating what this book is about would put a normal person off. I’ll start with what I liked, for the most part I liked the FMC Remi, she’s unique, funny, and brash. We only get to see the tug of war between the mains, the emotional abuse, the heroine being an absolute floormat and the hero who is nice to everyone but a complete sex fiend and a possessive asshole - and not in any of the good ways.

Her side character development is pretty great, as I was invested in her sister and friend and even the niece and nephew were well developed. CHILDREN, like 8 and 10, are discussing their GENDER identity, naming numerous gender terms that are in mainstream media right now and discussing their own while asking Remi what hers is. For all the times, Brick and Remi were tempted to take their attraction to the next step, Brick was the one who always hesitated because, one, he felt like he couldn’t be the person Remi wanted to be (Brick’s words), and in Brick’s mind the fact that Remi was his brother’s high school sweetheart, Ex wife’s best friend, and boss’s daughter, he felt like it would have been over complicated with Remi. It’s interesting how something can be pushed just a touch too far and suddenly seem annoying and ridiculous.
