About this deal

I’m not speaking about the story itself because being a male POV I knew exactly what was coming (and to be honest I did skim a bit).

E L James has been recognised as one of Time magazine's ‘Most Influential People in the World’ and Publishers Weekly’s ‘Person of the Year’. I’ll keep this review fairly short, most people have read Fifty Shades so there is no need to rehash that story. James didn't arrange for a crazed fan to hack into her computer, steal the draft and leak it over the web, causing her to abandon the project in disgust when it was still in an incomplete form. Buuuuuuuuuuuut I figure you can't make bad decisions all year unless you start on January 1 so I decided to read this today.Shades of Marmite – 5th March 2015) In that post, I mentioned that I would like to read an extended version of Christian’s perspective, after the teaser chapters at the end of Fifty Shades Freed. In Christian's own words, and through his thoughts, reflections, and dreams, E L James offers a fresh perspective on the love story that has enthralled millions of readers around the world. But even if it were scaled down and Christian’s success moderated, the dynamics between him and Anastasia would still make for a great story. He tries to forget her, but instead is swept up in a storm of emotion he cannot comprehend and cannot resist. She displays a compelling blend of vulnerability and backbone and finally feels like a character women can get behind … Best of all the book allows readers direct access to Christian Grey’s deepest, darkest thoughts … It is fascinating to read the story with fresh eyes too, having glimpsed Christian’s traumatic childhood and gained an understanding of his motivations.

No more carping and criticizing: clearly there is nothing much to it, and I have decided to become a world-famous erotic novelist as well. Fifty Shades Freed won the Goodreads Choice Award (2012), and Fifty Shades of Grey was selected as one of the 100 Great Reads, as voted by readers, in PBS’s The Great American Read (2018). More realistic and far racier than anything EL James has written before, Grey was definitely worth the wait. The reason I got myself so wound up towards the finale; and I do admit to loving an ending that makes me want to vent my frustrations, was the unexpected cliffy. When I read the trilogy, I tried to imagine Christian’s feelings, particularly as we were given a few clues along the way and this book is a vehicle to assist the reader on this train of thought.

Read more about the condition Very Good: A book that has been read and does not look new, but is in excellent condition. Nevertheless, when the crux of the matter is presented on a silver plate, he oversteps the mark resulting in an omnishambles because deep down, he thought she was his to have. When this space could have been better utilised by more flashbacks, and more insight into Christian’s thoughts, it is irritating to see how much of the narrative was wasted on non-events.
