About this deal

I’m thrilled that after so many books in the Alex Cross series and reading these through so many years of my life that I am still enjoying them so much. This book however was more like the old James Patterson with thrills spills, good characters told in the usual style of short punchy chapters.

But even he is appalled by the gruesome murders of two joggers in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park-killings that look more like the work of savage beasts than humans. I hope this is not a preview of oncoming books where you have to purchase an analysis to find out the outcome . The picture becomes clearer with each new chapter, focusing on plot of the villain to wreak a final storm on Alex Cross while Alex is working on his own plan to unleash a befitting retribution. From his grandmother, Alex Cross has heard the story of his great uncle Abraham and his struggles for survival in the era of the Ku Klux Klan.In a series of terrifying crimes, bank robbers have been laying out precise demands when they enter the building-and then killing the bank employees and their families if those instructions are not followed to the letter. With a supercharged blend of action, deception, and suspense, Cross Fire is James Patterson's most visceral and exciting Alex Cross novel ever.

Driven by feelings of hatred and revenge, Mulch is threatening to kill them all, and break Cross for ever. This one was action packed throughout and leaves readers on the edge wondering how the plot was going to play out. I have not read many of the Alex Cross novels but James Patterson has such a fluidity to his writing that It did not feel like I was reading a book late in a series. In a Virginia penitentiary, Alex Cross and his partner, John Sampson, witness the execution of a killer they helped convict.Behind these three highly skilled killing machines there appears to be an even more threatening controller. Alex Cross will need to use all his skills as a doctor, a detective, and a family man to prevent that resistance from turning lethal . Now he's hot on the trail of both a brutal killer, and the truth about his own past-and the answers he finds might be fatal. If you’ve been reading and enjoying the Alex Cross series, then Cross My Heart and Hope to Die should appeal as they very much offer more of the same quality and crime thriller suspense. The killer could be one of their patrons, one of Washington's elite who will do anything to keep their secrets buried. Detective Alex Cross is pulled out of a family celebration and given the awful news that a beloved niece was brutally murdered.

Alex would not be having the emotions and physical response Patterson gives us knowing he is faking a killing. Alex Cross is simply superb, as always, and the pain he feels comes right through the pages of the book. Cross follows the leads wherever they take him, tracing the killer's secret history into the back country and eventually down into the bayous of Louisiana.

Alex Cross stories got me reading novels on a regular basis, however this was a change from the norm is as much as this story line was spread over two books (first being 'Cross my heart' followed by 'Hope to die'). That scenario is continued here as he works nonstop to find them (hopefully alive); and as might be expected, the tension gets hot and heavy.
