About this deal

The concept of the book was so interesting and I wasn't exactly sure how it was going to play out but I was pleasantly surprised. Her sister is a fun character too and I enjoyed the ying and yang of their relationship and then her sister’s neighbour Ren is a great addition to the character line-up. And then we have the perfect balance of humour and romance that Lindsey Kelk always seems to manage to capture in her books. They have a wonderful meet cute and you just know from their meeting that Ren is going to add quite the intrigue to the novel. While there may be some clichés and a touch of cheesiness in the story, it didn't stop me from being drawn into the execution and becoming attached to the plot.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Harper 360/Harper Collins for sharing this digital reviewer copy with me in exchange for my honest thoughts. The idea that it’s okay to be who we want to be and to make decisions based on our own feelings, not just the feelings of others. It’s hard to explain but I felt like it had real meaning behind it and that meaningfulness really made me FEEL and struck a chord. The characters felt very real – they all have their own history, imperfections (okay, maybe not Ren, he seems pretty perfect. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. So when she lands in the Hollywood Hills - a place that proves film stars, golden beaches and secret waterfalls don't just exist in the movies - she can't resist playing matchmaker for her handsome neighbour, carpenter Ren. Overall, I highly recommend this book if you're looking for something extra sweet, motivational, and entertaining, making it a perfect summer read.

She’s so funny and realistic that I instantly warmed to her and wished that I knew her in real life. Instead of a Twilight TV series (and don't get me wrong, I'm a not-so-secret Twihard), let's get this one the big screen instead. Phoebe has a unique, yet hilarious way of describing things which often had me laughing out loud and I loved her ability to get herself into some interesting situations. The storyline is a modern day, semi-take on Cyrano where Phoebe, who is exceptionally bright and funny, doesn't think she is pretty or appealing enough to attract a hot man. You've been warned so I don't wanna hear it 😂 My only 'complaint' with this is there weren't enough scenes between Ren and Phoebe to warrant slanging around the l-word.

ITS 1:30 AM AND I JUST WROTE A WHOLE ASS REVIEW ON MY PHONE AND THE APP CRASHED RIGHT AS I FINISHED THE LAST LINE. Some of the locations I could picture because I have been there and others I felt like I had because they are described so vividly through Phoebe’s eyes-it was a lot of fun.

While Suzanne thinks that Phoebe is hoping for a much needed break, the reality is: her ex is getting married in a few days. There were some points where I was like “girl get a grip” but are they really a good character is you don't ask that question? I'd say the romance is more of a subplot, but it was super sweet while also bringing an opportunity for Phoebe to reflect on healing from a previous abusive relationship.

As she bonds with Bel and Ren, the connection between the characters feels authentic and genuine, making their stories all the more engaging. Bel is set on the fact that Ren is the love of her life, but there is one problem; she can't string a sentence together when talking to him. I especially loved the descriptions of the beautiful beaches and the graveyard where people had picnics seemed very interesting.

And while the IHeart series will always hold a special place in my heart I feel like each book she releases gets better and better! Born and raised in South Yorkshire, Lindsey lived in Nottingham, London and New York before settling in LA, where she lives with her husband and two very rude cats. Highly recommended if you want a light, entertaining story with a surprising amount of depth and the important message about not devaluing oneself when it comes to life and love. They help us to know which pages are the most and least popular and see how visitors move around the site. An utterly unforgettable, spirit-lifting summer rom com that's full of soul, joy, laugh-out-loud moments and meaning. the little hints and nods to celebrities (i'm looking at you Harry Styles and the three name drops you had in this book) made it even more fun and i loved the illusions to old Hollywood.
