The cleverly constructed plot, well-drawn characters, relatable themes, and easy-to-read and intelligent prose make for an enjoyable and compelling read. Behind Closed Doors by Catherine Alliott was published in hardback, audio, and eBook formats on 4 March 2021. Although this truly was one of the most chilling thrillers I have read in a while, the twists and the plot weren’t altogether too shocking for me.
Behind Closed Doors is both unsettling and addictive, as I raced through the pages to find out Grace’s fate.
This history of house interiors in Georgian England is a sparkling and erudite work from one of our best historians. What we’re left with is a pair of unbelievable characters in an unbelievable situation that’s executed competently. Grace was a likeable character for the most part, but honestly at times she was so frustrating that I really wanted to throttle her.
