Using the timeless book and example of Daniel as a guide, Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth reveals how seeing our lives and world through the lens of Heaven’s rule can shield us from panic and give us renewed hope and perspective. Using the timeless book and example of Daniel as a guide, author Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth reveals how seeing our lives and world through the lens of Heaven’s rule can shield us from panic and give us renewed hope and perspective. His rule over renegade viruses, cancer, and concerns about your marriage, your kids, your job, and everything else. Coming out of my hardest year yet, I really needed the reminder that no amount of anxiety and panic is going to "fix" the situation.

The author walks through the biblical book of Daniel show how he and his friends relied on the knowledge that God is always in control (heaven rules) no matter how dire the circumstances. But two simple words can quiet them, calm our fears, comfort our hearts, and give us courage to press Heaven Rules! When we’re in a crisis, we react based on whatever we’ve been most accustomed to thinking about and seeing and believing and experiencing.By walking through the book of Daniel, we learn about the prominence of this theme through the book, as well as the consequences when even the mightiest of earthly rulers choose to ignore Heaven’s rule. It can be easy to find yourself discouraged, these truths from Daniel 7 will remind you that regardless of what is taking place on earth, Heaven rules. They provide a platform for us to make much of our Father in the eyes of a watching world— or simply in the world eyes of one other person who desperately needs to know that He is real and He is good.

Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth also known as Nancy Leigh DeMoss is the host and teacher for Revive Our Hearts and Seeking Him, two nationally-syndicated programs heard each weekday on over 1,000 radio stations. For all of the miraculous works God performed through and for Daniel, it’s important to note that God never delivered Daniel from Babylon. With these powerful and biblical sound teaching at the forefront, this is a book that I highly recommend. Nancy teaches her readers that “Heaven Rules” (sometimes abbreviated as “HR”) can become a powerful mantra that can keep us anchored to the truth of God’s word, reminding us that God has control over the micro (the tiny details of our personal circumstances) and the macro (the big picture of what’s happening in your life or even the world). The book of Daniel is more than just a story about a man thrown into a lion's den or 3 men refusing to bow down to the idol. I especially appreciated the encouragement to read the actual text before focusing on that chapter or section. If you are familiar with Daniel, you know there is a lot of prophecy and imagery that can be very difficult to understand.

It is a practical tool for how to rise above whatever circumstances we face and live with trust, serenity and confidence in God's rule.Daniel lived his entire [adult] life as an exile in a foreign land, as a hostage in a culture that was hostile to his faith. It has the power to calm our worst fears and anxieties, give hope to those who feel hopeless, and inspire courage in the fearful. But two simple words can quiet them, calm our fears, comfort our hearts, and give us courage to press on: Heaven Rules! In her book Heaven Rules, Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth shares how choosing to take to heart the two-word phrase of the book’s title is the key to calming our fears and finding our courage amid a chaotic world. They take up so little room, just two little words, and yet they can fill the whole day, the whole house, our whole lives with anxiety and fear.

That doesn’t mean we won’t experience distress, but it does mean we can find a refuge by looking upward and letting His peace rule in our hearts. God rules over every situation and circumstance we find ourselves in, just as He did in Daniel’s day. She moves through those parts at a high level, not trying to interpret them but pointing to how Daniel reacted and to how God is still in control.

This book walks through the book of Daniel, along with stories from the life of the author and her friends. There were a few statements near the beginning I didn’t agree with about God’s sovereignty vs freewill of man, but I didn’t notice any more of that the rest of the book…so maybe I misunderstood the author. Throughout it all, the focus is on rearranging our perspective to recognize that no matter how things look from our earthly perspective. Being counted as among the people of God does not exempt us from the ordeals of living in a sinful, fallen world or from the rising floods that flow from it in all directions.
