I had no problem engaging with the characters and the story of Here Lie the Dead from the first page. We could take bets on which member of Sebastian and Hero's extended family is going to be the subject of the next murder investigation. right where I left them was Sebastian, Hero, the reprehensible Jarvis and his long suffering wife, Tom, Giles and Paul, ready to tell me their story. When the body of one such boy is found, Sebastian learns that several other children have gone missing over the years, all of them children left by parents sentenced to transportation to the colonies and not allowed to take their children with them.

I can’t seem to get enough of those scenes with Hero and baby Simon – I will admit it, I turn into a total fangirl in those moments. Beyond it stretched a labyrinth of foul courts and wretched alleys that twisted between here and the Strand. Once again, I whole-heartedly enjoyed the latest DCI Logan thriller - the story was as always both sad and exciting, with twists and surprised at every step. I laugh out loud from start to finish earning any number of weird looks from my family, some of whom are too young to have the section in question repeated to them.
