About this deal

And though dark, powerful forces are moving against him, Sebastian will risk his reputation and his life to keep more innocents from harm. Although this series is one of my favourites, I feel like this book was missing something compared to the other books within this series.

This gives him extra incentive to investigate murders of the innocent who were not casualties of war but who were considered an expendable inconvenience to someone. I had no problem engaging with the characters and the story of Here Lie the Dead from the first page. We could take bets on which member of Sebastian and Hero's extended family is going to be the subject of the next murder investigation. right where I left them was Sebastian, Hero, the reprehensible Jarvis and his long suffering wife, Tom, Giles and Paul, ready to tell me their story. When the body of one such boy is found, Sebastian learns that several other children have gone missing over the years, all of them children left by parents sentenced to transportation to the colonies and not allowed to take their children with them.

The practices of the Marquis de Sade come into it, and I expect most readers are aware that the word “sadist” comes from his name.

That’s the opening of Chapter One, and I think this is a good place to insert a trigger warning or content warning for child abuse. Despite writing from a young age, 'A Litter of Bones' is his first novel, and combines his love of the Highlands, crime thrillers, and cats. DCI Jack Logan and his team manage to p*ss everyone off in this book while trying to solve a murder, in a town that seemingly just doesn’t want it to be solved. Whether you're looking for a newly released movie, a TV box set, or even a classic film - you'll find what you need in our categories. Their relationship began in difficult circumstances, but over the last few books, it’s become clear that theirs is a strong, loving marriage built on mutual respect and affection.Despite the historical setting, this story still rings true on the social and political front today. I can’t seem to get enough of those scenes with Hero and baby Simon – I will admit it, I turn into a total fangirl in those moments. Beyond it stretched a labyrinth of foul courts and wretched alleys that twisted between here and the Strand. Once again, I whole-heartedly enjoyed the latest DCI Logan thriller - the story was as always both sad and exciting, with twists and surprised at every step. I laugh out loud from start to finish earning any number of weird looks from my family, some of whom are too young to have the section in question repeated to them.
