About this deal

In terms of cleaning, rinsing and spinning, the Miele W1 WSG363 always performs well, getting rid of most stains with ease after only one wash cycle. Sometimes I have trouble removing particularly stubborn stains from my toddler’s clothes, but these are the type of stains that require some pre-soaking and that most washing machines would struggle to get rid of. So, let’s see how we can help you make sure you always use the right amount of washing powder, liquid or tablets! Whatever type of detergent you use we can help you make sure you always use the right amount in the majority of cases. Washing Powder For coloured clothes, use detergent specifically for coloureds / delicates without optical brightener. This will ensure that the colours stay fresher for longer. Remember those TV ads where someone washed two white T-shirts with different washing powders and one (hint: the brand that’s being advertised) always came out blindingly clean? Well, we’ve been conducting our own version of that in hopes of finding which washing powders really are the best. That said, my daughter’s bedroom is just above the kitchen and if the house is quiet (when everyone is asleep) and I set the machine to come on early in the morning, I have noticed she wakes up early on those days. Whether that’s down to the machine or just a coincidence is debatable.

Now, of course, there’s some variation to that statement you need to know what clothes can go in safely together for one thing. And you need to know what settings will work with what clothes and how to safely load your washing machine as well. But that will all come with time but if there’s one thing that won’t it’s the washing powder.Bosch has equipped the Serie 6 with a variety of features designed to prevent everything from water-related disasters to unwanted engineer call-outs. One thing worth mentioning, however, is that the Serie 6 won’t achieve the same level of wash performance when using the i-Dos feature – and nor will any of the Bosch machines with the feature. This is because liquid detergent does not – and can not – contain bleaching agents. If you want the whitest whites and the most powerful stain-removing performance possible, you’ll need to use washing powder and that means adding it manually before every wash.

While I haven’t made full use of the compatible app and all the features the Miele has to offer, it’s a machine my family relies on, particularly when it comes to ensuring our clothes are fully clean so as to not agitate sensitive skin. About the author The amount of dirt in the washing. The more dirty the clothes are, the more detergent that's needed to remove it. You may not see it, but approximately 70% of dirt on clothes comes from the body, such as skin, sweat, grease and other bodily fluids. Only 30% of dirt on clothes comes from external sources, such as food, mud, grass, lotions and creams. There are a lot of settings (12 programmes and several additional settings, like delaying the programme or making it shorter), which are a game-changer for me and my family. This is where the Wi-Fi comes in handy, too. If you haven’t got time to set the machine going before you leave the house, you can just sling in the clothes, shut the door, and set the wash going remotely from your smartphone. These are pre-measured capsules that use specialist detergent to help protect your laundry, which you insert into the hatch in the detergent drawer before a wash cycle. You don’t need to use a CapDosing capsule for your wash, but the system makes it harder for me to clean the drawer. As a result, there's usually some detergent build up after a few wash cycles. Is the Miele W1 WSG363 Freestanding Washing Machine good value for money? Of course washing powders are not all the same. The two key types are biological and non-biological (often shortened to bio and non-bio). But what exactly is the difference? While our advice is based on research and the professional opinion of detergent manufacturers it’s important to remember that it is just advice and general guidance. When it comes to using the right amount of detergent (no matter what variant) you can go a long way just by using some common sense.

When you dose incorrectly, not only do you run the risk of wasting laundry detergent, but your clothes may not be cleaned to the standard you expect. Too much laundry detergent and residue can be left behind on your clothes. Too little and they may not be perfectly cleaned. While 35ml is the perfect amount of Ariel liquid for a 4-5kg washing machine, you need 55ml in a 6-8kg washing machine and 70ml in a 9kg+ washing machine. How much washing powder to use While I’ve found it simple to clean the Miele’s drum, door window and seal, it’s not easy to clean the drawer due to Miele’s CapDosing system (you get a couple of free CapDosing capsules to try out when you buy the machine).

How much washing liquid to use

My husband and I jog regularly, so there are a lot of sports gear to be washed in addition to everyday clothes. On holiday, we used my mother’s machine in between two destinations, which proved hugely inefficient because we didn’t have much time and the machine was smaller. It made me appreciate our Miele much more. OK, I don’t mean the different types of washing powder available like tablets, powders and liquids I mean the amount you need to use. This isn’t something that is always easy to solve after all does it depend on how many clothes you’re putting in, the types of clothes or the wash cycle you’ve chosen?

This machine has a 48dB noise reading for a wash cycle but 72dB for a spin, so when I’m in the living room or dining room I can’t hear it unless it's at the height of the spin cycle. For white clothes, we recommend using power detergents, as they contain a bleach and optical brighteners which helps keep your clothes bright white. Power detergent can be dosed directly into the washing machine drawer. If your clothes are more heavily soiled, then the average dose needed for a thorough clean is going to be around 50ml on average. However, for a more general wash, you should be fine with a 30 – 35ml amount of detergent per wash. Because liquid detergent is a lot more concentrated than washing powder you can get away with using less per wash. Washing Capsules/ Tablets If it lasts as long as my previous Miele washing machine (11 years), then the Miele W1 WSG363 offers great value for money. It is a pity that the machine falls down a little on repairability with a sealed drum unit and door – this means you’ll need to buy whole new units if just one component part of either breaks. If this model had a splittable tank, door and so forth, it’d be set to last for many, many years with the occasional repair and part replacement. Nowadays, however, there are few if any machines on the market which are fully repairable, so we can’t be too hard on Bosch in this regard. The Miele W1 WSG363 is one of the brand's best performing washing machines. Its size is an instant plus point for a family of four, and it cleans and rinses so well that I can really notice the cleanliness of my laundry after using this machine. Yet with a bigger machine, you also need more laundry detergent, whether that’s liquid or powder. How much washing liquid to use My husband and I went for a cheaper make and model when we bought our first washing machine together, but we regretted because our laundry was never really clean. Since upgrading to the Miele, we are so much happier with the results of the washing process. Because we use a lot of non-bio laundry detergent due to sensitive skin issues in our household, the Miele manages to clean our clothes well irrespective of the type of washing powder or liquid we use.
