About this deal

A modern-day Agatha Christie! Get ready to investigate the ODDLIEST of cases with the wonderful cosy mysteries of Agatha Oddly, the perfect series by Lena Jones for all readers ages 7+! Agatha’s late mother named her after Agatha Christie. She got Agatha to read the complete works of Agatha Christie – the mysteries of Poirot, Miss Marple, and Tommy and Tuppence – because Agatha liked solving puzzles.

This really happened – he was – but without evidence I had to drop my investigation. Plus, Dad grounded me. Agatha is set to become the youngest member of the Gatekeepers’ Guild, but before that, she’s got a mystery to solve! There’s been a murder at the British Museum, and Agatha suspects that the police are missing a wider plot going on below London - a plot involving a disused tube station, a huge fireworks display, and 5,000 tonnes of gold bullion.... And nothing gets bigger than saving the City of London from some strange goings-on. With a scholarship to the prestigious St Regis School, a cottage in the middle of Hyde Park, a room full of beloved sleuthing novels, and a secret key that gives her access to a whole hidden side of London, Agatha is perfectly poised to solve the mystery of what’s going on. The Secret Key: Meet thirteen-year-old Agatha Oddly – a bold, determined heroine, and the star of a stylish new detective series.Agatha Oddlow has been a detective for as long as she can remember – she’s just been waiting for her first big case.I have developed such a fondness for Agatha over the course of this book and the previous. Throughout Murder at the Museum we see the continuation of Agatha trying to discover the truth behind her mother’s death. There’s a section in the story where Agatha believes she is finally about to get the answers she’s looking for only to be disappointed, and that was actually quite sad to read. I hope before the series ends Agatha will get to find out the truth. After reading over 150 romances this year, I wanted to read something innocent and something completely out of my age group. There comes Agatha Oddly with her enchanted melody of a great time, a tiny bit of tears and a hell lot of entertainment. This was absolutely a brilliant read. But she said Agatha should think about real puzzles, not just word searches and numbers. She had said: ‘Everybody is a puzzle, Agatha. Everyone in the street has their own story, their own reasons for being the way they are, their own secrets. Those are the really important puzzles.’ What we have here is Agatha, a 13-year old girl, named after the famous Agatha Christie, living only with his dad. She is one little girl with the longing for adventure, wild imaginations, and of course, deduction skills. In those ordinary days, she is one called trouble maker. Because of her wild imaginations, she always wants to know about everything and investigate it, so she said. Every so often I change up my reading and read a middle grade book. Almost every time I realise how amazing they are and vow to read more. Never has the case been more true than with Agatha Oddly. This book isn't even released yet and I already want the next one!

Once again I found the plot overall to be well paced and interesting. The title is perhaps a little misleading as although the murder at the museum is what first comes to Agatha’s attention very little of the book is actually spent investigating the murder. Instead we follow Agatha as she investigates underground tunnels, and eventually manages to tie everything together in the dramatic climax to the story!I stare at the red letters for a moment, feeling a familiar excitement. It’s been five weeks since I solved the case of the red slime that had polluted London’s water supply – and I’m itching to get going again. Things have been too quiet, with no cases to solve, so I haven’t been enjoying my summer holidays as much as usual.

Meet 13-year-old Agatha Oddly - a bold, determined heroine and the star of this stylish new detective series. Two – you tried to miss lessons by convincing the groundskeeper that you were an apprentice tree surgeon who needed to scale a tree near the boundary wall… and just so you could get out of school…” A member of staff has been stabbed to death shortly after closing time this evening at the British Museum. Police have yet to release the name of the staff member, who is believed to have disturbed an intruder. A museum exhibit is said to be missing from a display case.

Our heroine is awesome, brilliant and accurately named after Agatha Christie. She is the perfect introduction to the famous crime novelist for young readers, who will grow up reading more mystery adventures! Considering this was the debut book of Lena Jones, I can't emphasize enough how impressed I was and how excitedly I'm waiting to read on in the series, as well as the future works of the author.

Agatha? I wasn’t expecting you today...?’ Her Caribbean accent is slightly stronger when she’s surprised– it’s the only ‘tell’ she has– the only clue to her real emotions. I shake my head. Doctor Hargrave (Ronald Hargrave, BPhil MEd OBE) likes to fill silences. He’s very good at that, and it’s best to wait until he’s done. He isn’t a doctor, as you and I think of them, but he likes to be called one. He has five liver spots in the shape of the constellation Cassiopeia on his forehead, and a steely glare which I would say is a 4B on the eye colour chart I have hanging in my bedroom.

Reviews
