About this deal

We get a much better look at some of the supporting characters and what goes on in their heads. Edmund, Tyson, Amalie, Queen Katrine. We also get introduces to a new character who must choose to run or risk the forever wrath of La Dame if caught. La Dame tells Etta she's going to break her curse, but first she'll take away her love. She does exactly what she says--Etta is filled with unspeakable power, but she no longer feels anything for Alex but resentment, anger, and hatred because of her family's history with his. Etta fights against La Dame, who flees with some of her guards. Esme heals Edmund, Alex, and others. Etta doesn't really care and leaves. Without even thinking, he ate a grape but it also turned into gold! The same happened with a slice of bread and a glass of water. Suddenly, he started to sense fear. Tears filled his eyes and that moment, his beloved daughter entered the room. When Midas hugged her, she turned into a golden statue! Despaired and fearful, he raised his arms and prayed to Dionyssus to take this curse from him. The atonement Solution (X2-X3). Etta is burdened by the hope of her people. That she is their queen and she will take down La Dame. But she doesn't have the legendary power. All she can do is grow stuff! Etta learns her father has hidden much more from her then she ever knew.

Alex is the king of an empire slowly turning on me. Does he do what he knows is right for his people and gain their favor or what is wrong and risk increasing their ire. This is where the golden curse of boredom appears and I decided to call it quits after 65% of the book. After the tournament, which is full of action and blood and swords clashing, there is virtually nothing. Someone dies, someone gets thrown onto the throne, and someone mopes around grieving with no clue what to do. Like before, I’ll give you the directions in chunks — but heads up, the chunks are going to get longer as we go. Oh, and they appear to be very close childhood friends YET THE PRINCE DOES NOT RECOGNIZE ETTA AND BASICALLY FALLS IN LOVE WITH HER INSTANTLY. 🤔🤔🤔 He does ask if they've met in the past though, and then just brushes it off after she says not at all. Friend, you're not going to go and investigate? His sister, Princess Camille, will revel in the bloodthirsty displays they'll witness, she's so like their cruel Father!! He'll do his best to keep his face blank as befits his role as Heir but his poor little Brother, Prince Tyson, who will be so excited to see some real fighting, will have a rude awakening, he fears! Tyson is strong at 15 years but he cares deeply for people and these Deaths will be brutal 😢⚔When I learned that this was a Rapunzel retelling I was overly extatic because everyone who knows me even slightly knows Rapunzel is my favorite story/princess and that I luuuurve everything concerning our extremely long-haired gal. I honestly could go on and on...but essentially, this one isn't for me and I don't think I'll be returning for book 2. Judt one thing though, I'm a little bit confused with La Dame's intentions and all especially her revelations. There are more secrets to be uncovered for eveything to make sense

I’m afraid that I found the sexual relationship between Etta and Alex to be questionable at best, especially at the beginning. Their relationship is portrayed as a romantic one, and as such presumably something the author thinks young people should desire and/or emulate. But when they first have sex Etta is very conflicted in her feelings towards Alex. She isn’t sure if she likes him, loves him, or downright hates him. Is this something we really want to model to young people? If you’re in a relationship, and haven’t yet worked through your feelings, then the right thing to do is to jump straight into a sexual relationship? I’m afraid I think that’s not a helpful suggestion, nor do I think it was necessary for the purposes of the book. I’ve mentioned my love for fairy tales, yeah? I loved this book! It’s a Rapunzel retelling, but I honestly didn’t get the connection until the end. Even then, it’s a subtle connection. Etta has magic and golden hair, but until the end, that’s about the only likeness to the story. Regardless, it was still a fantastic book. There’s also a reference to Sleeping Beauty when explaining the curse’s history.Etta Basile has spent years among the trees, training for the day she’ll take up the curse of her ancestors, a curse tying her life to that of her greatest enemy, the Prince of Gaule.
