About this deal

The cabinet, sealed design is excellent for keeping the sound tight. It doesn’t let it blast or boom unnecessarily and keeps the distortion to a minimum, unlike the SVS PB1000 which is a ported box design. Conclusion The impact of this subwoofer is hard to ignore; it doesn’t matter whether you are buying it for your gaming session or music/movies.

The SB1000 costs slightly more than the PB1000 due to its overall compact cubicle design with rounded edges. This one, however, resolves the issues associated with space quite well. Proprietary injection-molded extreme-excursion surround ensures flawless pistonic motion for pinpoint control and accuracy without distortion at the highest drive levels. The box is a bit of a function-breeding form item and, apart from the curved edges, there is little remarkable to see. The grille is solidly made and powder-coated. When it's removed it reveals the blue LED ‘on’ indicator. With the LFE input connection, there is no need to make any adjustments; it doesn’t matter whether you are opting for 2-channel or surround sound listening. The overall size is rather small too. If you want to keep it out of the way, put it in a corner. If you’re after a compact subwoofer, you can read about our best ones here. To determine the best location, do a sub crawl (Yes, this is different than a pub crawl. But feel free to have a few beers while you do it ;)). The user’s manual that comes with the subwoofer is concise and well-written. It provides useful guidance on setting up and configuring the subwoofer for the best results. For this review, I placed the SB-1000 Pro near one of the front corners of the listening room, the location that I have identified to give good bass response at my listening position. I connected the SB-1000 Pro using the RCA line-level connection in both stereo and home-theater applications. After a sufficient break-in period, I measured and calibrated the subwoofer responses using REW (Room EQ Wizard) software and a calibration microphone. These measurements were done in my listening room, which is relatively large (16 ft wide with a ceiling height of 9 ft and open to the other areas in the house), and thus it should be noted that room interaction will be there even in the close-miking nearfield situation.

Again, if you compare it with the PB1000, you will find there is no difference at all in the overall design. But the SB1000 is a lot smaller than PB1000.The new SVS 1000 Pro Series features technology breakthroughs from the 16-Ultra Series, 4000 Series, 3000 Series, and 2000 Pro Series. This technology joins with exclusive 1000 Pro Series innovations to set a new standard for subwoofer performance value. More people than ever can now enjoy room-shaking bass below the threshold of human hearing with unerring accuracy and control. PB-1000 Pro does make for a more lifelike experience. SVS PB-1000 Pro and SB-1000 Pro Subwoofers Conclusion The sound of aircraft engines can be felt even if they are on a distance. It has a high degree of control on the low-range and changes the pressure of volume amazingly well. USB port also provides power for the optional SVS SoundPath Wireless Audio Adapter which eliminates the need for a cable run to the subwoofer from the source component. In summary, I find the SVS SB-1000 Pro does the vast majority of things that I seek from a sub, including digging deep, playing clean, and offering a robust platform for tweaking with the SVS App. It does all this up to the limits of its capabilities, which should not be underestimated based on size, price or the fact it is sealed. This is a sub that “takes care of business” in more modest setups, or in situations where very high output levels are not needed, but other qualities of a good sub—depth, clarity, impact—are all present.

In terms of connectivity, if you compare the PB1000 with the SB1000, you won’t see any difference. The standard coaxial LFE port allows you to connect your AV receiver. I started with the same location I keep my Klipsch down firing sub, while I figured this wouldn’t be optimal it gave me a starting position to then dial in. In my room, the best place that fit was a little in front of my mains and next to my amps. There may be a more perfect sounding placement but ultimately I am limited by practicality as well as sonics. I played some test tones and moved around the room and it worked well in that spot. The great thing with SVS’s newer subs is you can also dial in your sound through the app. If you are limited by your space and can not get a perfect placement you can make adjustments in the app. I played around with the EQ and phase as well as level to get it to sound the best. As you will see in the graphs the bass and sub-bass have a bump, which is how I like my system, I’m a bit of a bass head. The great thing though is you can really tune this sub to meet your tastes, all from your listening position. App Setup You can see you’ve got the grille from the front and covers the entire front face with the SVS logo down at the bottom. Pull the grille off, you give it a simple tug, and it comes off. It’s held in with these pins on each one of the four corners. The grille itself is lovely, rigid, and firm. We test subwoofers rigorously, and part of that is seeing how they respond to demanding movies and videogames. We gave the SB-1000 Pro the full rundown, including inserting it into a large Dolby Atmos home theater setup, and it responded exceptionally well. I run a 5.1 system, but with a phantom center, so it’s really 4.1. The speakers are GoldenEar Triton Seven, which have served me well for years. Anyhow, I tried both Audyssey XT32 and using the tools SVS provides, and the point is either approach works to smooth out the response within the range covered by the sub. Of course, using Audyssey lets you correct for more than just the sub, but even if you take the AVR-based room correction path, you can still use the SVS App to fine-tune.The SVS SB1000 is an excellent example of a small but powerful subwoofer. It’s one of SVS’s two subwoofer lines for the entry-level/small-size market. Jaw-dropping deep bass extension down to 20Hz and massive output with stunning musicality that will delight both audiophiles and home theater fans. Reference subwoofer performance has never been available near this price from a cabinet of this size. SB-1000 Pro is a breakthrough subwoofer in every way. Saved custom presets for one-touch tuning with optimized settings based on listening preferences for movies, music, and more. All accessible from a single touch. Weighing in at an easily transportable 27 pounds, the SB-1000 is SVS’s smallest and smallest subwoofer, enabling its 24Hz to 260Hz (+/ – 3dB) recurrence response to be even more notable. design. I didn’t expect that it could keep up with the PB-1000 Pro in the deeper bass. But this isn’t to say the SB-1000 Pro reproduced
