About this deal

This was another lovely read from Ashley and I enjoyed how passing references were made to characters from other books that are set in the Lake District. Full to the brim of romance and Christmas, this was a sweet story with likeable characters from start to finish. Can she melt Max’s Grinch-like heart? And can he show her that life doesn’t need to go to plan to take you somewhere magical… My heart went out to young Krystle at the beginning of this book – a really difficult childhood only made easier by her aunt’s loving care, and the gorgeous sight while on holiday in the Lakes, seen through a window, of a room decorated for Christmas, complete with roaring fire and presents under the tree. It ignited her love for everything Christmas-related – now her year-round and particularly successful career. A lovely, enjoyable read from start to finish. Exactly what we have come to expect from Phillipa Ashley. This would be a perfect gift to give this Christmas.’ Reader review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Absolutely wonderful story that I couldn't put down… A wonderful, heart-warming, tearful and uplifting read. It has absolutely everything. Perfect for the Christmas season’ NetGalley review⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Philippa Ashley writes such great heart-warming stories and this is one to wrap you up in a warm hug’ NetGalley review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Gave me so much joy… I think this book will bring happiness to all that read it’ NetGalley review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ There are some great one liners and I read the whole book in a single sitting as I literally could not put it down and although it was sunny outside I was very much transported to the Lakes , a Christmas market and surrounded by snow. Of course every story needs a person that is not likable, and this book has Brett. He is created perfectly to not like him, however he is not criminal, just selfish and clueless as to how he should treat people.

Krystle didn’t have a normal childhood and longed for warm family Christmases with presents under the tree. Now she makes sure everyone else has the perfect Christmas she never had, bringing beautiful decorations to cheer as many people as possible.Krytle, who is described by people in London as Mrs Christmas because she runs a holiday business dressing Christmas shop windows and in store displays . She has now booked her favourite house she remembers it from her unhappy childhood, it's meant to be for an extended christmas break she is able to do this as her beloved auntie Lynda has passed away leaving her with some money under the proviso she does 'something that makes you smile or scares you, anything that you'll remember forever'. Linda’s philosophy of life is so uplifting, so affecting and embodies the true spirit of Christmas. The Christmas Holiday shows us how life truly is what we make it. This story really does give the reader a warm and happy glow. Joy in being part of a community Themes of grief and community are so beautifully included. The connection between Krys’s childhood and her present personality is sensitively handled.

As Krys is known as Mrs Christmas she is in her element but as Brett is once again called away for work will her Christmas be ruined or could this be the start of a new life? Grieving for her aunt (who in many ways has been a mum to Krys) she decides to take some time off between contracts and visit the Lake district. Here she plans to stay in a house she admired from the outside as a young child and try and create the most beautiful Christmas for her and her boyfriend - Brett. Fantastic read set in the Lake District. Expertly written with the usual Phillipa Ashley twists. A great festive read.’ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Grab the mince pies and hot chocolate, and settle down with a fabulous festive treat from Phillipa Ashley in her latest release, The Christmas Holiday. I enjoyed this wonderfully emotional story by Phillipa Ashley. She is a favorite author of mine and I think this may be my favorite book of hers, but I usually feel that way after finishing each of her books! A spectacular Christmas romance that will fill you with joy and make you want to spend the holidays in the Lake District - as long as Max and Jake are there, too! Pour yourself a mug of hot chocolate and settle down in front of the fire with this perfect, uplifting festive read! Ashley sets this novel in a Staffordshire village near by the Lakes, it is set in December as she is here in time to save Christmas and the fact it describes the large open fire in 'Holly Manor' several times. Meaning it was cold outside.
