It’s difficult to put into words how important you are to me. But you should know that yours is the most blissful presence in my life. Merry Christmas to you! Christmas Wishes for Brother I understand the films made by the LDS/ Mormon market that clearly take place in that market using terms such as "pastor" to make the film more accessible to other groups, but it still bothers me. Hello just say that the nice heavy set man is the bishop and not the pastor! Evans is a very believable single parent under extreme duress. Kristy Swanson gives a superb performance in that role. It was deserving of an Emmy nomination but the Emmy's seem almost to have a bias against Christmas themed films. Perhaps it's because each year brings out one to a few movies that appear to be just slight moderations of well-worn themes. And Kirstin Dorn is tremendous as the very intelligent and wise young Mel Evans. The rest of the cast all give good performances.When first seeing the DVD case, I assumed it was going to be boring, preachy and needlessly heavy handed in being so. I was correct, unfortunately, yet I was still unprepared for the horrible acting, scripting and execution. Dear hubby, you have made my life heaven full of peace and happiness! Thank you for everything! Merry Christmas! Martha begs a restaurant owner for work. The lady owner, Trudy Willis, (Tess Harper), has a struggling business, but she has compassion for the hurting family and gives Martha employment. The mom and three children have to stay in a budget motel, until money can be earned for a permanent place to live. (All kinds of crazy things happen after this!) This is a sweet movie and the other two children, little Lilee Evans, (Lilee Clyde) and Miles Evans, (Kevin Herring III), a stuttering boy, play their roles very well. A handsome policeman, Joe Hopkins, (KC Wilson Clyde), rescues them, more then once! I won't tell you all of this story....There are some very scary, tearful moments, but Martha prays to God, and the Lord blesses them beyond her expectations! God uses the loving, generous townspeople and sweet Joe Hopkins! This is definitely a wonderful Christmas movie for all ages and I hope that you buy this DVD. Furthermore, the story, despite its imperfections, is warm hearted and has a lot of well meaning heart, without taking itself too seriously. The film did leave me feeling very moved. The characters interest and are worth investing in, not being too perfect or having flaws too exaggerated, which was refreshing after seeing a few films with distastefully over the top unpleasant characters that you are meant to root for. Swanson's performance is deeply felt and doesn't get melodramatic. Kirstin Dorn is a charmer and similarly moving and Edward Hermann once again plays the type of role he played so well beautifully.
The chemistry is great, the cute little bookstore with fun categories like "heartfelt Christmas with strong female heroine" is wonderful, and above all I liked that there were no dark motives...everyone was good, wanting to do the right thing, and think the best of others. The struggling family end up in a small western town, where she begs for a restaurant job and gets it! The rest of the story shows how the townspeople help her in different ways, and how she develops a special friendship with a caring policeman, Joe Hopkins, played by K.C. Clyde. My life would be incomplete without your love. Thank you for making my life amazing. Every Christmas seems more colorful to you. Merry Christmas, wife.However, there is a lot to like about 'A Christmas Wish'. It looks attractive enough. The scenery is both rustic and festive and the photography doesn't look rushed or drab, quite beautiful actually. The music doesn't come over as too melodramatic while still having some presence. The direction is suitably sympathetic on the most part while taking a little time to find its feet. The dialogue is not perfect either but the cheese and sentiment don't go overboard and it generally doesn't come over as stilted. May the spirit of Christmas bring much rejoicing to your heart, and may it give you the pleasure of reconnecting with your loved ones. Merry Christmas! However, just for balance I'd like to say that none of them would look at me at all, I'm not a Hollywood star though. May the divine love of God descend into your home to make it a piece of heaven.
