They got married in a Church in Harare. Alex had to abandon her teaching career to make the trip, but she never regretted the decision. This is the second novel in the DCI Lorimer series. In the first book, Lorimer is a blank slate, the sort of character upon which the reader can project any personality they wish.

One of the nicest things about this 20-year journey has been making friends with my heroes and heroines, like Anne Cleeves, Christopher Brookmyre, Ian Rankin and Val McDermid, who are all pals. The mountainous location and adverse weather conditions lead to a slower pace of investigation than if they were in the city. The vivid descriptions of the landscape, flora and fauna show that this is a very special place with a unique atmosphere. Echoes of the Glencoe Massacre of 1692 permeate the narrative.
