About this deal

To determine the Image Size (screen size) enter a distance measurement number in the Throw Distance value box and hit the Enter fit your image onto a screen you need a projection calculator tool or throw chart to tell you the image size dimensions at the corresponding

Lens offset. The lens offset for the TH671ST is designed for placement on a low table, with the bottom edge of the image falling somewhere between the lens centerline and up to 5% of the image height above it. For example, with a 100-inch high image the bottom edge would be anywhere between even with the lens centerline and 5 inches above it. The bottom edge of the image on our test unit was about 4% of the image height above the centerline, which is within typical sample-to-sample variation. A projection calculator is used to calculate a screen size when a projector is a specific distance away from the screen. As you move a projector BenQ recommends using High Altitude mode at 4,921 feet and above. With High Altitude on, most people will want to stay with Eco mode, which is quieter than full power mode with High Altitude off, but with a higher pitch that makes it a little more intrusive. With full power, High Altitude mode both increases volume and raises the pitch. the graphical representation of a projector in the middle of the calculator, you will see dimension lines that will tell you the Throw DistanceCritically acclaimed for industry-leading high contrast, BenQ DLP projectors produce the most crisply defined sharpness for crystal-clear details and legible text by maximizing the fill ratio of individual pixels and employing exclusive BenQ SmartEco Technology. calculator, you will see dimension lines that will tell you the height, width, and diagonal measurements of your image. Zoom Lens Light Loss. The 1.2x zoom isn't large enough to curtail brightness significantly at the telephoto end of the lens. You can safely ignore the potential light loss when choosing how far to put the projector from the screen. Throw Distance. Unlike most short throw projectors, the TH671ST offers a zoom lens, which adds flexibility for positioning the projector to help make setup easy. Simply place the projector at approximately the right distance from the screen, and then fit the image to the screen by adjusting the 1.2x zoom, rather than moving the projector. The range for a 110-inch 16:9 image is roughly 5.5 to 6.7 feet. The BenQ TH671ST Projection Calculator will let you find the throw distance range for the image size you want. The TH671ST’s menu system is just like the one I’ve encountered on many previous BenQ projectors. If you want to avoid the detailed settings, just choose the Basic version which only gives you, well, the basics like input selection, picture modes, and the like. Tweakers and videophiles will want to choose Advanced for full access to all the calibration controls and features. The bigger problem with Bright mode is the loss of gradations to the point of showing a hint of posterization in demanding images. Despite that, Bright mode with defaults is our choice for the presentation-optimized setting, even for presentations that include photorealistic images. Most people will also consider it acceptable for occasional use in, say, a family room in daytime when they absolutely need the extra brightness. Low Lamp Mode. Compared with the full power mode, Economic mode reduces brightness by about 36%. Two other settings, SmartEco and LampSave, are dynamic power modes that are intended to lenghthen lamp life by adjusting the power level based on scene content. With a standard 100% white image, we measured SmartEco at the same brightness as Normal power mode. LampSave peaked at 1,767 ANSI lumens in Bright mode, just a touch brighter than Economic mode. BenQ says there is no noticeable effect on the image with these modes, nor did we observe any. All the important stuff is in the Advanced sub-menu. There are nine gamma presets which offer fine control and excellent accuracy. I chose 2.3 for its slightly better mid-tone contrast and color saturation. Color Temperature comes in four flavors, all of which are adjustable with gain and bias sliders; Normal comes closest to D65. You also get a color management system with hue, saturation, and gain (luminance) sliders for all six colors.

Ventilation is generous with a quiet fan that I could barely hear at its top speed, impressive considering the bulb is 240 watts. There is a bit of light leakage from the grill and from the lens controls on top. That’s where you adjust zoom and focus with firm precise movements. Also up here are basic control buttons for power, menu navigation, and source selection. represents the diagonal distance between the top right corner of your image (screen) and the bottom left corner of your image (screen). On Performance. The TH671ST delivers usable 3D with support for DLP Link glasses only, but its 3D performance doesn't stand out from the crowd. I saw no crosstalk in my tests, and 3D-related motion artifacts are less obvious than with earlier generation 3D projectors. However they are more obvious than with most current models. The single 3D color mode is roughly as bright as Cinema mode—the least bright 2D mode—before factoring in the loss of brightness from using 3D glasses.Light Mode contains the four lamp levels. Normal is brightest followed by Eco which cuts output by about 35%. SmartEco throttles brightness and roughly doubles static contrast with occasionally visible image pumping. LampSave also varies output and extends lamp life to a claimed 15,000 hours.

measurement between the front of the projector lens and the surface of your wall or screen. Using the Zoom Range Slider

Chris' passion for audio began when he took up playing the bassoon at age 12. During his third year at the New England Conservatory of Music, he won a position with the West Point Band where he served for 26 years as principal bassoonist. He retired from the Army in 2013 and is now writing full time and performing as a freelance musician in Central Florida. is still a thing with some enthusiasts and BenQ always provides a good experience. The TH671ST is a little brighter than most and that just makes it all the better. Upon putting Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs in the player, the projector switched immediately to its 3D picture mode. This CGI animated feature is simple in texture but abounds with bright saturated colors. I never wanted for more contrast and the depth effect was clean and clear with no ghosting artifacts or motion blur. DLP is still my favorite technology for watching 3D and BenQ doesn’t just include it as an afterthought. With an outstanding brightness figure of 3000 ANSI Lumens, the TH671ST suits all types of lighting conditions. Even during daylight conditions with curtains or blinds open, the TH670 produces a watchable and detailed picture - perfect for gaming on a weekend afternoon. For optimal performance, BenQ’s LumiExpert technology detects lighting conditions and automatically adjusts the brightness to suit.
