About this deal

Why ask me about beer prices? Hi, I’m Victoria, and I’m from Germany, so naturally, my favourite drink is beer. Trying the best beers while I travel the world is my favourite part of being a digital nomad, but in recent years, I’ve found myself spending most of my time in Bali. After living here on and off for several years, I’ve seen beer prices rise and fall throughout the pandemic, and now, many resources on alcohol pricing online are actually very inaccurate. Alcohol in Bali can be either really cheap or really expensive. However, generally, Indonesia is a Muslim country, so prices for booze will always be slightly higher than in other places in South East Asia.

The company mainly produces the Bir Bintang (translation: Star Beer) and its variants, including Radler, Zero (0,0%) and Maxx (0,0%). It also produces non-alcoholic soft drinks like Green Sands and Feyrouz. Singaraja is relatively new in Bali’s beer market, and its pilsener is rapidly gaining popularity. Made by the producers of Prost beer, Singaraja is meant to have a slightly stronger taste, appealing to international visitors and classic beer drinkers. However, in practice, it’s slightly sweeter than Bintang, with a hoppy taste and an unbeatable price. In my opinion, Singaraja is the best local beer in Bali (setting aside craft beer options), and it’s also often the most affordable. You’ll find most international beer brands in Bali, although Heineken, San Miguel, and Carlsberg are among the most common in bars and beach clubs. The best international beer selection can be found in liquor stores and speciality beer shops around the island, where you’ll find most popular Australian beer brands and craft beer from all around the world. Storm beer Bali – Not available anymore A: While Bintang is one of the most well-known Indonesian beers, there may be other Indonesian beer brands available in specialty stores or online retailers that focus on international beers. KBE Drinks, has announced today that it has reached agreement with Multi Bintang Indonesia (part of the Heineken company) to market and distribute their flagship brand Bintang Beer across the UK and selected European markets.Bintang is the No.1 beer brand in Indonesia with 85 years of heritage. For the first time it will be available in the UK market as it becomes the latest addition to Kingfisher’s product portfolio. Kuda Putih is a local Indonesian beer brand that is known for its affordable prices. You won’t find it in Bali very often, but when you do, it’s typically very budget-friendly. The name Kuda Putih means white horse, and you’ll mostly encounter it in local supermarkets and less so in bars in Bali. At 4% it’s also the weakest beer on this list. In 2016, Multi Bintang Indonesia was considered one of the fastest rising companies in terms of profit, outgrowing giants like PT Kimia Farma Tbk and PT Unilever Tbk in the first quarter. It is now estimated that the company dominates its industry, with around a 55 to 60 percent market share. Bintang is the leading beer brand in Indonesia and it has 85 years-worth of heritage. Kingfisher’s deal with Multi Bintang Indonesia (part of the Heineken company) will see the brand available in the UK market for the first time. While most expats in Indonesia would laugh at the word “premium” when using it to describe Bintang, the beer’s affordability makes it likely able to hold its own against other local brands such as Islay Ales, Britannia, Thornbridge and Porter. This also opens the possibility for Multi Bintang Indonesia to distribute other non-alcoholic beers and soft drinks in the UK.

It’s never been better to enjoy great beer! Bintang beer is also available in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, The Netherlands, and Malaysia. It only sells one wheat beer, but it is made with traditional German methods of fermentation. This traditional, unfiltered Bavarian Weissibier is infused with modern flair. The Perfect Drink For A Hot Day: Bintang Radle You might encounter a beer called Draft Beer in Bali, which is actually a type of Bali Hai beer and often the most affordable one available in bars. In my opinion, it’s not the best but considering its economic price it can be a good option. Regular Bali Hai is much better though. The popular Bali micro-brewery Storm had to close its doors in the early 2010s and is not producing beer anymore. It is not available currently, unfortunately. Beer sizes in BaliPearl River is one of the top beer choices in China, where they brew over a billion bottles a year! Imagine this: you’ve had a long day, and you decide to unwind with a chilled beer. Yet, we all know that it’s not always a walk in the park to find these Dutch delicacies abroad. Sure, you might stumble upon a Heineken in a local supermarket or bar, but what about the other Dutch treasures like Grolsch, Amstel, or that refreshing Radler? These are often elusive in foreign lands. And let's face it, international beer just doesn't hit the same spot as a Dutch brew. That’s where Dutch Expat Shop steps in. That said, we might not be able to see significant growth and possibly even some drops around June, as the Holy Month of Ramadan approaches in Indonesia and locals stop drinking. IOI, which stands for Island of Imagination, is one of the smaller craft beer brewers in Bali. Their beers are typically available in speciality stores and less so in large bars or supermarkets. They offer a wide variety of beer options, and their colourful branding definitely stands out. Most of their brews are produced in small batches, and they use local ingredients as much as possible. Beer prices in Bali will vary greatly depending on where you’re buying drinks. Here is a rough idea of what you can expect to spend on Bintang and other beers in Bali this year.
