About this deal

Remember that childhood game of War? There are ongoing battles over MQA and I have as much interest in those battles as I do in arguing over Billie Eilish’s figure or fingernails. The CCPA sets forth certain obligations for businesses that “sell” personal information to third parties. Based on the definition of “sell” under the CCPA and under current regulatory guidance, we do not believe that we engage in such activity and have not engaged in such activity in the past 12 months from the effective date of this Policy. If we ever offer any financial incentives in exchange for your personal information, we will provide you with appropriate information about such incentives. Marantz are often looked down upon because they’re a Japanese manufacturer and because their products often include features that purists consider to be superfluous (tone controls etc). Some think badly of Cambridge gear, purely because A) their products, in the UK at least are distributed by partner company Richer Sounds, and B) because their claim to fame used to be the manufacture of exceptional budget equipment. Many believe that such companies are not capable of producing credible high-end equipment, and sadly are more than happy to share that view with others despite them having no direct experience with the products or brand in question.

And there are buttons on the display that can guide you for pausing, starting, and doing all that you can do with audio on a player.

For example we use the services of the 3rd party company Zendesk to manage our support interactions with you. CXC is built to last because Cambridge Audio ensures its parts’ fine-quality material. Everything goes without any problem for decades, and you will never feel like you need an operator with this CD player. as long as you are happy for us to do so) send you more relevant and interesting marketing communications. So, I’d bought myself the magnificent Moon 280D DAC. (How magnificent? Read about it here.) This was going to be the device handling all my digital audio – from its own inbuilt streamer, from my DAB+ radio receiver, and from my CD player/transport, whatever that may be. I’d originally planned to use my aging Denon DCD-755AR to do that job via its optical output but decided to add a bit of class. I settled on the Cambridge Audio CXC Series 2 Single Speed CD Transport.

I’m very surprised RS didn’t suggest you audition the Cambridge 851 kit, especially as they’re the CA distributor and used to push their kit as much as possible. It seems that they sadly don’t push the high-end kit enough, no wonder their truly exceptional analogue preamp (the 851E) was recently discontinued. A great shame. The remote control is interesting in a not-so-good way. It’s a combo remote for the Cambridge Audio CX range. So it controls the CX-range amplifier and the CX-range network receiver in addition to the CXC disc spinner. This last gets all of twelve keys. Adding to the front panel controls are fast forwards and fast reverse, repeat, random, and a display dim button. And most of the keys are right down the bottom of a long remote control, and thus a little harder to use. The Cambridge Audio CXC is a CD transport. Its sole purpose is to spin up CDs to the correct and stable speed so that a laser can read the pits and lands that are encoded into the polycarbonate layer of the disc. Then, by way of the CXC’s digital outputs (Coax or Toslink), that data is sent to a digital to analog converter to turn bits into analog waves. This analog signal is then sent on to your amplification device(s) of choice. Done!Paired with the K3 I also heard the Roksan CD player, but was persuaded by my daughter to not buy it as she thought I was much more likely to stream it than use a CD. Would I be right in thinking that 24 bit Tidal would be better than CD? And how does 16 bit Spotify compare with CD? From time to time, Cambridge Audio may aggregate and/or anonymize any information collected through the services so that such information can no longer be linked to you or your device (“Aggregate/Anonymous Information”). We may use Aggregate/Anonymous Information for any purpose, including without limitation for research and marketing purposes. Information from your online interactions CD players these days come with many excellent features that can either attract the customer’s minds towards it or make them completely frustrated. It is very easy to use because there comes a remote with the product. You can find buttons on the CD player and use the remote control to change the CD’s songs, increase or decrease volume, and more. Besides that, you will also find a button for turning it off.

By default, the unit switches itself off after half an hour of non-use. You can change this to a different period of time (one hour or two hours) or disable it. Again by default, the unit does not autoplay whenever you insert a disc, but you can change this as well. Provide the Services; communicate with you; marketing and advertising; personalise the Services; improve the Services; business operations; with your consent I know that these specifications don’t give you the much satisfaction you need to decide on this CD player. The next step is to discuss the things I liked the most and things I don’t like at all. Pros And Cons Of Cambridge Audio CDX CD Player: Now, you can either use remote or buttons to operate it. Insert your CD and start enjoying the music you love to listen to. Who Or Which Company Is Behind It? The natural question then becomes, ‘why would anyone want to buy “half” a CD player?’ The answer is similar to the reasons why people buy separate preamps and power amps instead of integrated amplifiers. Part of it is sound quality and part of it is flexibility. In theory, the CD transport and separate DAC each has a dedicated power supply instead of being shared and there will be less interference (noise) affecting each unit. Of course, theory is theory and reality is reality. Yes, a CD transport and separate DAC may indeed sound better than a one box CD player, just as a separate preamp and power amp can sound better than an integrated amplifier; but in audio, there are rarely absolutes. In the end, playing CDs strikes me as a lifestyle choice. Spending time with the Cambridge CXC was a very pleasant reminder that real time and attention spent listening to music pays dividends and sometimes having less to choose from makes the experience more thoughtful. Devoting one’s time and attention to listening to an album at a time, coupled with the experience of having and holding a real object in hand that includes artwork and liner notes in addition to pits and lands, allows for a different, and potentially deeper, connection to the music beyond sound. The CXC replaces my Jolida JD100 player which has done duty for many years without any problem, but what was a plus (valve output) and warm output is not what I want now. Having got used to sound via a hard drive into the DAC, I was looking to take out the colourations from my player plus perhaps upgrade the data reading ability. The Jolida does have a digital out, which was used to compare directly to the CXC. This belatedly as I only twigged to the digital out from the Jolida after I had bought the CXC. My excuse is that the Jolida had been buried in my hi-fi unit for years at the bottom of the pile... Prices valid in stores (all including VAT) until close of business on 28th November 2023. By the way, “single speed” means that it doesn’t rev-up to handle other formats. CD itself is not single speed. It is a CLV – constant linear velocity – format, so the initial rotational speed of the disc as it starts at the centre is around 500rpm, and it gradually slows to about 200 rpm as it reaches the perimeter.) Practicalities

our renowned “S3” servo design, and it has class-leading levels of jitter rejection and error correction – no multi-purpose drive is able to compete with the the CXC’s levels of precision and stability.
