It may take twice daily applications for 2 months or more before evidence of hair growth can be expected. If minoxidil isn’t an option for you, but you’re feeling low about your hair loss, reach out to your GP for support and advice on alternative treatments.

There are two minoxidil preparations available which are suitable for a woman to use. They are not available on the NHS, but you can buy them without a prescription from pharmacies and other retail outlets. Minoxidil is not effective for everyone. If you feel there is no improvement after 12 months of using the solution, you should stop using it. If you are using minoxidil foam, you should stop using it after 24 weeks if there is no improvement. Minoxidil was discovered by accident during trials for a high blood-pressure treatment, when it showed signs of being able to regrow hair. Some patients have experienced changes in hair colour and/or texture with use of Regaine for Men Extra Strength Scalp Solution 5% w/v Cutaneous Solution. There is some evidence from in vitro studies that minoxidil reversibly binds to human plasma proteins. However, since only 1 – 2% of topically applied minoxidil is absorbed, the extent of plasma protein binding occurring in vivo after topical application would be clinically insignificant. The volume of distribution of minoxidil after intravenous administration has been estimated at 70 litres. Any other skin problems, an irritation, or a sunburn on the scalp—These conditions may cause too much topical minoxidil to be absorbed into the body and may increase the chance of side effects. Pump spray applicator: this is useful for large areas. Aim the pump at the centre of the bald area, press once and spread with fingertips over the entire bald area. Repeat for a total of 6 times to apply a dose of 1 ml. Avoid breathing spray mist. Immediately after using this medicine, wash your hands to remove any medicine that may be on them .

Many men develop hair loss at some stage - this is called male pattern baldness. The condition is caused by a combination of hereditary (genetic) and hormonal factors. Some women develop a similar type of hereditary hair loss, which starts gradually, spreading from the crown of the head. This type of hair loss in women is more common after the menopause, and can be distressing. If you have a medical condition, or if you're not sure if minoxidil is suitable for you, speak to your pharmacist or GP before using it. But how to use Minoxidil? It’s a legitimate question, and, in this article, we’ll provide the answer. Causes of hair loss is multifactorial and can include things such as stress, hormonal changes, medications, genetics, and hair products that irritate the scalp, says dermatologist Peterson Pierre, MD. He notes that there is only one FDA-approved medical treatment for hair loss: topical minoxidil. Formulas that exfoliate the scalp can also be helpful, he says. Ingredients like saw palmetto and tea tree oil have antibacterial and healing properties that contribute to overall scalp health.

Based upon these photographic data, around 60% of the patients experienced an increased scalp coverage after 48 weeks treatment with Regaine for Men Extra Strength Scalp Solution 5% w/v Cutaneous Solution as defined by re-growth of hair; compared with around 23% at an average for those who received vehicle alone. Of these, around 35% treated with Regaine for Men Extra Strength Scalp Solution 5% w/v Cutaneous Solution experienced dense or moderate regrowth compared with around 7% who received vehicle alone. In addition 30% of patients who received Regaine for Men Extra Strength Scalp Solution 5% w/v Cutaneous Solution were adjudged to have no change between the photographic assessments of hair growth compared with 60% who received vehicle alone. Stabilisation of hair loss (expressed both as regrowth of hair and no continuation of hair loss) can therefore be expected in about 4 out of 5 of patients using Regaine for Men Extra Strength Scalp Solution 5% w/v Cutaneous Solution compared with 3 out of 4 patients using vehicle alone. Even when using the spray, ensure that you wash your hands thoroughly after application. This will ensure that you don’t absorb the drug in an area where it is not needed, and it will prevent you from unwittingly ingesting Minoxidil if it remains on your hands.
