Without doubt, Leica Geosystems' DISTO ™collection comprises the most technically advanced, flexible and reliable laser measures in the world. Robust, rugged and fit for the task both indoors and outdoors, all Leica DISTO ™laser measures are IP54-rated as a minimum. In other words, they are all splash proof and dust resistant. Some DISTOs are even IP65-rated meaning that they water-jet proof and dust-tight. IP65 units can even be rinsed off under a tap after a hard day's work. If you'll be taking measurements often enough indoors to require precise accuracy, and if you need extra functions for different types of measurements, like corner measurements, then the D2 is a great choice for functionality and value. One step up from the D410 but a world away in terms of functionality, the D510 features4x digital zoom, accuracy to +/- 1mmand a range of 200m. One and two steps up are the Leica Disto D2 and D210 - both offer fantastic levels of accuracy, enhanced functionality over its smaller brother and IP54 protection (water splash and dust resistance) as standard. It's also ultra-compact at114 x 50 x 27mm. Far from bargain basement, the D210 features every last bit of the quality and innovation that comes with its more expensive bigger brothers.The D2 calculates area and volume, and remembers the last 10 measurements taken. Use the Add/Subtract capability to combine measurements to get a precise reading of the total wall area of a room (aka "the painter function"). Whilst all distos are ideally suited to taking indoor measurements, if the vast majority of your measurements are being taken inside you could save quite a bit of money by option for either the D110, D2, D210, X310 or D3a BT. A Pythagoras function allows you to make rough indirect height or width measurements, useful for creating estimates. The universal adapter for Lino allows to attach and adjust the height of a Leica Lino by 130 mm easily and precisely. It can be used for the new Leica Lino L2, L2G, L2P5, L2P5G and P5.

The D2 includes a Pythagoras function for indirect height or width measurements. However, in a tool this size that cannot be mounted to a tripod we recommend using the Pythagoras for estimates or rough measurements. If you need precise indirect measurements, an LDM with a tilt sensor is your best bet.
