About this deal

This is not an exhaustive article on PCIe. This article will give a base understanding to help ensure that you know which slots and configurations of PCIe devices your PC will support. The PlayStation 5 will not output sound over HDMI if headphones are plugged into the PlayStation 5 controller. For PCIe connected capture devices such as the Elgato Game Capture HD60 Proand Elgato Game Capture 4K60 Pro MK.2follow the steps below. Game Capture 4K60 S+can record to an SD card without requiring a PC. It is ideal for when recording video on the go or for recording high-quality 4K60 HDR video to an SD card when the PC is not powerful enough. Some motherboard manufacturers will add more PCIe slots and M.2 slots than PCIe lanes are available. This means that when a M.2 SSD is being used, a PCIe slot may be disabled. Or in reverse, when a PCIe slot is used, the M.2 interface is disabled. The same can happen with SATA or eSATA ports.

Each of the four HDMI inputs functions independently - This means one HDMI input can have a 4K30 signal going into it, while a second HDMI input can have a 1080p60 signal going into it. PCIe is a physical interface for connecting high speed devices such as graphics cards, network cards, storage adapters and capture device to a desktop PC. For Elgato PCIe Capture devices, a full PC restart may be needed to finish a pending firmware update. If the update is not completed the capture card may not properly capture the incoming video signal.Elgato Game Capture devices such as the HD60 Sand HD60 S+have analog audio input ports. These devices can capture sound either via HDMI or the analog port. To record audio from a PC, the PC needs to output sound over the HDMI output of the graphics card. By default a PC can only output audio to one source at a time.

PCIe x16 slots are generally intended for use with Graphics Cards. PCIe 1x slots are generally for smaller add-in cards like Wifi Adapters, USB Adapters, or lower bandwidth capture devices such as HD60 Pro. Both Game Capture HDand 4K Capture Utilitysoftware support analog audio capture from specific capture devices. The analog audio level can be changed in the software settings. Capturing of any resolution that is not on the supported capture resolution list is not guaranteed to work. This guide will walk you through steps to take if your capture card has a source plugged in but it not detecting the signal correctly and is displaying No Signal or there is no video on the pass-through TV or monitor. These steps can also be used if the video signal is not appearing as expected.Multi App Support: use a single Game Capture 4K60 Pro MK.2in multiple software applications simultaneously, e.g., stream at a low bit rate with overlays and record a clean 4K60 HDR version. Unfortunately the Elgato Cam Link can be hard to find at the moment, as everyone is finding themselves in a world of FaceTime, Zoom and video conferencing. So there are some alternatives, such as Elgato's own HD60 S+ card (which is actually aimed at gamers, but can perform the same conversion task). The PCIe generation refers to updated standards, enabling faster speeds. PCIe generations are denoted as PCIe 2.0, PCIe 3.0, and PCIe 4.0. As of the writing of this article, PCIe 4.0 is the latest generation. The Game Capture HD software can capture the analog line-in sound from a desktop PC when using the Game Capture HD60 Pro or Game Capture 4K60 Pro (MK.1) capture cards.

Lane Width refers to the number of PCIe lanes supported by the physical slot. Larger slots can support more lanes, enabling higher speeds. But not all devices will use all of the lanes provided by a slot. To use headphones with the PlayStation 4 controller, a special cable was developed called Elgato Chat Link. Learn more about using Elgato Chat Link here. In this example, 4K60 Pro does not work in the x1 slot due to the size of the slot, as well as the required speed. Elgato Game Capture devices capture sound in stereo (2.0) format. Make sure the PlayStation 5 is set to output Linear PCM.

Similar to the PlayStation 4, the Nintendo Switch will not output game sound over HDMI if headphones are plugged into the headphone port. HDMI cables come in various lengths. The generally accepted max length of a HDMI cable capable of 1080p60 is 25 feet before signal degradation can occur. Elgato Game Capture devices capture sound in stereo (2.0) format. Make sure the PlayStation 4 is set to output Linear PCM.

HDMI 2.0 cables are much more susceptible to signal degradation due to the much higher data rate. HDMI 2.0 cables over 6 feet are not recommended. Dual-PC Setups: Game Capture 4K60 Pro MK.2 features an HDMI 2.0 input and output, and is thus capable of capturing and passing through high refresh rate signals such as 1080p240Hz and 1440p144Hz. This makes Game Capture 4K60 Pro MK.2 the ideal choice when using a two-PC streaming setup.
