About this deal

Lezyne also makes the Micro C GPS(also tested), which is incredibly small and lightweight and boasts all of the same features of the Super GPS with a color screen. The Polar V650 GPS is a full color touchscreen bike computer that isn't damaging to your budget. You get navigation mapping with TOPO maps meaning real lay-of-the-land detail with your routing overlaid. It also means easy access to maps wherever you go.

Unfortunately, the route creator won’t allow you to search for locations, so you must tap on a specific place on a map to choose it as the waypoint. I was a bit pessimistic when the Lezyne Super Pro GPS unit showed up at my door. Over the years, a few companies have tried to take on the two giants of the on-bike GPS units and had little to no impact. Lezyne, known for its tools and accessories to enhance your time on and off the bike, has stepped into the proverbial GPS heavy-weight ring with its latest offerings of devices. Lezyne Super Pro and Ally + mobile app The Ally app also lets you seamlessly transfer ride data to Lezyne’s GPS Root computer app and to Strava, TrainingPeaks and Today’s Plan. There’s support for Strava Live, while incoming call and text notifications are pushed from your phone to the GPS. Broadly speaking, GPS computers fall into two categories: those with mapping and those without. Computers with detailed mapping and turn-by-turn navigation will cost more than those designed simply to display ride data (although they may also have basic mapping functionality). If you like to explore by bike, buying a GPS computer with mapping and navigation is a great way to head into unchartered territory, without getting completely lost.To begin with, the Super Pro is a small, compact and handy device. It measures 70.6mm (W) x 48.16mm (L) x 26.0mm (H) and the screen more 32.6mm (W) at 39.8mm (L). With 60 Grams it is very light. Certainly in comparison with many other GPS devices, it is very small and light. The completely redesigned Super Pro GPS cycling computer is an excellent choice for all riders looking for a full-featured, mid-sized device. Note: Whenever you perform a firmware update by connecting the device in bootloader mode, you will need to do a second update afterwards. Failure to do so may cause problems with future updates. The casing feels substantial and there’s a rubber bung with a good seal which covers the USB recharging port at the bottom of the unit, making it properly weatherproof. The Lezyne Super Pro GPS is deeper than the Garmin Edge 130 Plus though, at 26mm versus 16mm for the Garmin.

Below, I share my experience with Lezyne Super Pro GPS. I’ve been using it for a few weeks. Display If when you try plugging in the device, the computer isn't recognizing it, you might need to connect it in bootloader mode. It's different button combos for the Mini/Micro devices and Super/Macro devices. The computer provides you with all the data you need, in an easy to read format. This includes elements that focus on navigation and lots of data showing key areas of your cycling performance, and includes: The combination of the larger mount and deeper unit means that the Super Pro GPS sits quite high off the bars and looks a bit chunky. It looks a bit better with a forward mount, which positions the computer in front of the bars. That’s something that you can buy separately or as part of Lezyne’s Loaded bundle, which also includes a heart rate monitor and cadence sensor. LEZYNE SUPER PRO GPS review: features In the Offline Maps list, you can see the map listed as Not available for routing. This is because the map is on the GPS device, but not in the app. Hopefully this clears some things up. We’d be happy to continue answering questions here for a bit if there are any more. A basic cycling computer gathers a range of info about your ride, including speed (and your max speed), distance and time to your destination, and more scenic data such as the time the sun set during your ride.

Each button on the Edge 520 Plus has a dedicated function. We found the multifunction buttons of the Super GPS to be a bit less intuitive than the Garmin Edge 520 design. Pushing the wrong button or not getting the desired result was a more frequent occurrence with the Super GPS. In addition, the lap button on the Super GPS is on the left side — both the Edge 520 Plus and Edge 830 position the lap button on the lower edge of the housing, making them easier to access, particularly at the end of a hard interval. Despite these gripes, the Super GPS button layout is functional and gets the job done, it just takes a bit of getting used to.Pairing the Super GPS with ANT+ and Bluetooth Smart accessories is a simple process. The type of sensor is selected in Menu-Sensors, and then the Super GPS will search for the sensor and pair following a series of confirmation prompts to ensure the correct sensor is paired. Once a sensor is paired it will automatically sync with the sensor ID each time the unit is turned on.

Lezyne has its own mounting system. It’s a bit more robust than Garmin’s, as you need to push down and turn the unit a quarter turn to engage it, so the computer is less likely to slip out. The mount sits a bit higher on the bike than Garmin’s too, although it’s attached with a similar system using two rubber bands. A mid-sized unit, the Super Pro has a 40mm by 33mm monochrome screen. That screen size is quite a bit smaller than the unit itself though, which measures 71mm by 48mm, is 26mm deep and weighs 60g. It sits quite high on the bike’s bars or stem, particularly since the standard mount is tall. But the latest software update to Lezyne’s phone app adds Komoot integration, which lets you select the Komoot Tours menu option on your phone to get a listing of your mapped routes and select one to follow, which is then pushed to the GPS unit. Komoot provides a more intuitive route builder and a menu of other people’s rides to tap into.Once that transfer is complete, you will be able to see the map on the mapping screen on your device (as long as you're within the area of the map and the device has a GPS signal). Although it’s relatively small (only 2-inch), it can fit up to 8 data fields. But, of course, they are much smaller than on larger head units, causing a little worse readability. The Enhanced Super’s user interface is fairly intuitive and the screen is clearly legible, although it fares less well at extreme viewing angles. Over a couple of months of use it seemed to achieve something close to its maximum battery life of around 24 hours and it behaved consistently apart from two freeze-ups, which were cleared with a simple hard reset. For the tech nerds out there obsessed with data and training the Super Pro pairs with ANT+ and Bluetooth accessories. Power meters, heart-rate monitors, cadence sensors etc. are all compatible with the new Super Pro. Bottom Line
