About this deal

CoHo is a mastermind and I’m officially a forever fan. I’ve often wondered about how authors of thrillers/suspense can create such intense stories. This book gives us a twisted glimpse into the mind of such a writer. This book never stalled, never tripped. It was a full speed, twisty ride until the end. I didn’t want to put it down. Verity will take everything you thought was creepy and make it seem like a children’s bedtime story. Enjoyable is not an appropriate word for this book. Disturbingly entertaining seems a more apt description. The only reason I didn’t give a full 5 stars is because I felt the romance side was missing depth. Also, also... this book did no favours for writers tbh. Saying shit like "I write suspense novels, of course I know about your girlfriend" doesn't make any sense???? I'm not like WOW HER BRAIN, I'm like... wow.... is her brain ok? What is the correlation? The struggles don’t end with her accident, though. Jeremy and Verity lost their twin daughters in two accidents, as well. Now, Jeremy Crawford, the husband of Verity, offers Lowen the chance to become financially stable if she finishes the series. There is a bit of a catch, though. She has to stay at Crawford’s residence and rummage through the manuscript there. A Chance Never to Repeat

Synopsis: Lowen Ashleigh is a struggling writer on the brink of financial ruin when she accepts a job offer from Jeremy Crawford, husband of bestselling author Verity Crawford, to complete the remaining books in a successful series his injured wife is unable to finish. Plot holes? Nah, plot CRATERS. How did she fake the brain scans? Why didn't Jeremy just kill her when she came home from the hospital? (maybe I missed something?) Girl is up at night sneaking around opening bank accounts but can't reach out to a friend and be like HALP??? And don't use this whole autobiography as the reason, because your publisher could corroborate your story and you're telling me you never discussed it with her afterward????

While trying to sort through Verity’s notes and see where she was going with her story, she finds a manuscript titled “So Be It.” It turns out to be Verity’s own unpublished biography, and though Lowen’s job doesn’t involve doing much reading, she can’t help herself but become absorbed in the woman’s recollection of her storied past. However, as she reads further and further, the subject matter becomes darker and darker, containing some troubling revelations about the Crawford family. For her college or university days, Colleen attended the Texas A&M Commerce. She majored in social work and received her Bachelor of Arts not long after. From the start, Hoover worked jobs that involved social work and teaching, however, this was scarcely sustainable as she wanted to become a writer. When she arrives at her publisher’s office, she receives a rather unusual proposition from Jeremy Crawford, husband to Verity, a famous and successful author, now catatonic following a terrible accident. Lowen is to finish the last three books in a series written by Verity, with the pay being seventy-five thousand for each volume. Naturally, she accepts the offer, and goes to live at the large Crawford family home in Vermont.

Moreover, we have to talk about the subpar love interest of “Verity” — Jeremy. I guess I cannot blame Colleen for putting a mediocre woman with a below average man. The relationship that Jeremy presents is full of distrust blanketed by lust. Again, we are presented with the same problem of shallowness as before. There is almost an odd fixation on Jeremy as a character, and that may have been an intentional choice. However, it completely misses the mark. Anyways now I can say I wasn’t lying when I told people every day of my life in a bookstore or library for the past year that, sure, I’ll give Hoover a try. Mission accomplished. And I know a lot of teens love CoHo books, but this is one book of hers that I don’t recommend to young readers. Verity Plot Summary
