The first television anime adaptation of Kafka Asagiri and Sango Harukawa's Bungo Stray Dogs manga aired from April to June 2016, and Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired in Japan. The anime's second 12-episode series aired from October to December 2016, and Crunchyroll again streamed the series as it aired. Funimation and Crunchyroll released the series on home video with an English dub. The anime's third season premiered in April 2019, and aired for 12 episodes. Crunchyroll and Funimation both streamed the series. Kanaineko's Bungo Stray Dogs Wan! (Bungo Stray Dogs Ruff!) spinoff manga inspired a television anime that premiered on January 12, Crunchyroll and Funimation streamed the anime. as it aired in Japan. Mori works at the orphanage that Atsushi used to live in and is the former Port Mafia boss rumored to have been assassinated by Dazai. He eventually tends to Atsushi together with Elise, a young adult nurse who acts as his assistant; she refers to Mori as Rintarō like her original-world counterpart. Koichi Sakamoto ( 009-1: The End of the Beginning) is directing the film, and Asagiri wrote the script. Kadokawa is distributing the film. As the clash draws to its conclusion, through a transceiver, Kunikida formally passes Akutagawa to the Agency. At a rooftop, Akutagawa spares Atsushi's life. Dazai arrives, fires Atsushi, and asks him to live in the outside world with Kyōka. Dazai then tells them of a certain Book that allows whatever written in it to become reality and is home to infinite worlds, including their current world. He ultimately reveals that he had planned for them to face and understand each other. As part of his fifth and final stage, Dazai steps off the ledge and commits suicide. In the past, Chūya struggled greatly with his identity and place in humanity. His connection to Arahabaki ended in him questioning how human he truly was, worsened by not knowing the truth behind why he was freed from the government's possession in the first place. While his strength lies in his ability, the awareness of a god's effects on him left him feeling as though he wouldn't feel worried nor fear in a fight, knowing he'd most likely win without a scratch. He attributed this to being - in his mind - inhuman, and thus unable to understand the depth of such emotions.

Osamu Dazai succeeds Mori as the Port Mafia's boss. Dazai is much grimmer, although he still holds his dark, sardonic sense of humor at the worst of times. Dazai made many enemies, but the Mafia's influence spans even greater than Mori's influence during his leadership. Using No Longer Human, he triggered a singularity and forcibly connected the division between the his world and the original world, which makes him able to read the memories of his original counterpart. Protecting the Book is his main priority, aware that it is the only world Oda lives in and achieves his goal of becoming an author. The novel is so well adapted to the big screen, the writing, the characters, sets, costumes… all of it it’s just wonderful and loyal to the original series. The BSD world has come to life with this film and I love it! The acting and fight scenes were on point, and I enjoyed the cinematography, although the tight budget for the visual effects was pretty obvious. However, they still managed to do a decent job. I know isn't cheap to make a movie where almost all your characters have supernatural powers, so I have to give them extra points for the effort!

Sakunosuke Oda survives the war against Mimic, as he was not present during its main events, and works in the Armed Detective Agency, acting somewhat as a mentor for Akutagawa after finding him starving to death by a riverbank. The orphans from the Dragon's Head Conflict also live with him, along with ten other children. Alive and well, he is in the process of publishing his first book. His friendship with Dazai is nonexistent, having never met him, and Oda allows no friendship between them. This is the only world in which he survives. The cast did a wonderful job as well, reprising their roles from the stages plays. Although I missed Tawada Hideya as Dazai, I have to admit that Tabuchi Rui was amazing on the role! Oh my, he definitely has those crazy vibes from Dazai! XD After Rimbaud elaborated his own beliefs on humanity, Chūya had a bit of a change of heart, taking his own life a bit more seriously. The Sheep's betrayal affected him greatly, alongside Port Mafia's direct involvement in uncovering the truth of his origins, but ultimately led to his loyalty in them. The drive for learning more about himself contributed largely to his rise in rank, much faster than anticipated.
