About this deal

Corsodyl is incompatible with anionic agents which are usually present in conventional dentifrices. These should therefore be used before Corsodyl (rinsing the mouth between applications) or at a different time of day. Chlorhexidine has also been shown to prevent the formation and build up of plaque on teeth, which helps prevent inflammation of the gums (gingivitis). Using the spray is particularly useful when toothbrushing is a problem, for example following dental surgery or in people who are physically or mentally disabled. Chlorhexidine treatments are generally very safe. Many people use them without having any side effects at all. Side effects with skin treatments This is a medicine; Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have an underlying medical condition, are taking any other medication or complementary therapy, or if symptoms persist.

Medicines and their possible side effects can affect individual people in different ways. The following are some of the side effects that are known to be associated with Corsodyl spray. Just because a side effect is stated here doesn't mean that all people using this medicine will experience that or any side effect. It is available to buy from pharmacies and is often prescribed by dentists to treat or prevent gum disease. Chlorhexidine is usually a safe medicine if you follow the instructions that come with it. However, do not use more than the recommended dose.

8. Cautions with other medicines

For the treatment of dental stomatitis the dentures should be cleaned and then sprayed with Corsodyl spray. Chlorhexidine is incompatible with certain ingredients of conventional toothpastes. For this reason, after using toothpaste to brush your teeth, you should rinse your mouth with water and wait five minutes before you use this mouthwash. Stop using chlorhexidine dental treatments and speak to a dentist, doctor or pharmacist if your mouth is: If you are going into hospital, you may be sent a chlorhexidine product to wash with before you come into hospital to reduce the chances of infection. This should come with instructions on how to use it. What if I forget to use my chlorhexidine treatment? In case of, swelling, or difficulty breathing stop using the product and seek immediate medical help. Transient disturbances of taste sensation and a numbness, tingling or burning sensation of the tongue may occur on initial use of the mouthwash. These effects usually diminish with continued use. The usual dose for children aged 12 and older is up to 5 lozenges a day. Adults can have up to 10 a day.

The normal adult dose is appropriate for elderly patients and children of 12 years and over unless otherwise recommended by the dentist or the physician. Corsodyl mouthwash should be used as directed to rinse the mouth. The mouthwash should be spat out, not swallowed, although accidental swallowing is unlikely to cause harm. Put a small amount of gel onto your fingertip or a cotton bud. Gently wipe it across the surface of your mouth ulcer, gum or the sore part of your mouth.
