About this deal

This leads me on to my third point, which is that they shouldn’t have left the Maze so soon. The Maze was a beautiful storytelling device, a clear and decisive goal that all of us could get behind. We are trapped in a maze and we need to find a way to get out, pure and simple. The problem is immediate, is tangible, and is very easy for the reader to see. The second book loses so much because it do Brevet, Brad (September 20, 2015). " Maze and Mass Top Box Office, but Everest and Sicario are the Story". Box Office Mojo . Retrieved September 22, 2015. James Smith Dashner is an American writer of speculative fiction, primarily series for children or young adults, such as The Maze Runner series and the young adult fantasy series the 13th Reality. The characters were also great. What I liked was the conversations they had with each other. They felt normal and real, exactly according to their age.Thomas is a great main character, but I don't know he has a thing for crying, and somehow he seemed weak sometimes.Newt was my favorite character.I also liked Teresa and Minho. Brenda (books2–3, 5) is a character that the members of GroupA and B assumed to be a Crank. Eventually, they discover that she is an Immune.

Then came a plague, and fever spread across the globe. Families died, violence reigned, and man killed man.McNary, Dave; Chi, Paul (16 September 2015). "Wes Ball Returning to Direct Third 'Maze Runner' ". Variety . Retrieved 17 September 2015.

In my opinion, Dashner should have just made this a new series, entirely separated from the Maze Runner world. It could have been really good if he’d just written a new series. In fact, I think a lot of spin off series have this issue. Sometimes a series should just be left as it is, and The Maze Cutter is an example of that. The characters feel real, but conflicted, and more interesting than any other YA characters I can name. Thomas in particular is a protagonist that draws you in so much that you can't help but see it through to the end, for his sake if nothing else. The secondary characters (Minho and Newt mainly) provide more depth, humour and tragedy alike. I read pretty much children´s books and YA, especially with a focus on fresh, funny, and unconventional writing styles, but I don´t get the hype around this one, it has just nothing, no complex plots, interesting characters, nothing. It´s always a bad sign if I am losing my focus because it´s boring, implausible, or redundant, which happened several times while reading, but younger readers with fewer airs and graces and not having read the much better other works of the genre, might find it entertaining. Trilogy Rating: Based on my star average for the three separate books, the whole trilogy gets a 3/5. If you’re the type that likes to read books before seeing the movie, then by all means, read The Maze Runner. It was a very enjoyable and unique read. In my opinion, you can skip the final two books and not miss anything. Also, I’m predicting that this will be one of those rare cases where the movie is better than the book.

Dig, Enric (September 24, 2014). "The Maze Runner 2014 Full Movie Review". Publishers Weekly. Archived from the original on September 25, 2014 . Retrieved September 24, 2014.
