I do have several Oreo recipes already on my blog such as my Oreo Cupcakes, Strawberry Oreo Fudge, No-Bake Oreo Cheesecake and more. I know you all love Oreos like me. Well, not all of you do, but a large percentage do! I will admit that Oreos don’t always stay as my favourite biscuit, I adore others like Custard Creams, or even the classic Digestive.. but Oreos are just more popular on the internet! These Oreo cookie bars should be stored in an airtight food storage container. They will last at least three days, but they do become more dense the longer they’re kept. They do not freeze well.

There’s the same nougat-y texture to the base as in the other bars. It’s smooth and chewy, with the crispies adding a satisfying crunch when you take a bite.After the successes of my M&M Cookie Bars, and Rolo Cookie Bars, I thought I would do something similar, so the Oreo Cookie Bars happened. HOWEVER… I knew that if I just did a cookie mixture, with some Oreos, it would be too dry. This meant I needed something Chocolatey! I had coincidentally been given one of the ‘Cadbury’s Big Bars’ for Christmas and it was the Oreo one, and this just seemed to ideal to miss it. Who doesn’t love chocolate? This bar should be every chocoholic’s dream, but I can’t help thinking how different it can realistically be from the Fudge Brownie flavour… The orange flavour is just right with this one – it’s not artificial or bitter, and it doesn’t overpower the chocolate flavour. I would have liked something a little more different from the standard Carb Killa range than simply the addition of orange flavour – surely if you’re going to call something ‘Jaffa’ you need a jelly layer… There was a time, a dark time, when I was a PB&J hater. Thankfully, I’ve since recognised the error of my ways and have become a COMMITTED lover (peanut butter first, strawberry jam ALWAYS).

Boasting 21g protein, just 1g of sugar and a whole lot of that iconic OREO flavour, this OREO Protein Bar is the real deal. She is also the author of the upcoming cookbook: Dinner, then Dessert – Satisfying Meals Using Only 3, 5 or 7 Ingredients which is being published by Harper Collins. Grenade have even switched up their usual ‘structure’, swapping the soya crispies for peanut chunks in the chocolate layer. White Chocolate with Sweetener (23%) (Sweetener: Maltitol; Cocoa Butter, Whole Milk Powder, Emulsifier: Soy Lecithin; Natural Flavouring), Protein Blend (Calcium Caseinate ( Milk), Whey Protein Isolate ( Milk)), Bovine Collagen Hydrolysate, Humectant: Glycerol; Sweeteners: Maltitol, Sucralose; Palm Oil, Water, Fat- reduced Cocoa Powder (3%), Wheat Flour, Wheat Starch, Rapeseed Oil, Bulking Agent: Polydextrose; Sea Salt, Emulsifier: Soy Lecithin; Raising Agents: Ammonium Carbonates, Sodium Carbonates; Acidity Regulator: Sodium Hydroxide; Flavouring. This flavour is chocolate on chocolate on chocolate – a fudge-y centre topped with a gooey layer of chocolate, topped again with chocolate chips and then encased in Grenade’s signature milk chocolate (aka a chocolate-lover’s dream).

Although strong, the banana flavour isn’t overwhelming and mixes well with the chocolate and the hint of salt from the caramel. Even so, this is a great addition to the line and I still really enjoyed it. You could say it would have been improved by substituting the caramel layer for peanut butter, but what isn’t improved by adding a bit of peanut butter… Jaffa Quake 8/10 Chocolate chips: I’ll be using white chocolate chips for this recipe. This also tastes great with milk chocolate chips. In many ways this bar is similar to the Caramel Chaos – Obviously, the chocolate coating and the texture are exactly alike, but the flavour is overall pretty similar too if I’m honest. I think I’d have to eat them one after the other to really distinguish between them. It’s an unexpected dessert that helps to break up heavier items on the dessert table. You know what I mean, when everything is rich chocolate chocolate chocolate, you need something a little lighter to reach for here and there.

Basically, the banana flavour is the artificial flavour that’s a just that little bit too strong to be real banana. Bang on. The base is the same nougat-like centre as the rest of the bars but with a soft peanut flavour in this case. It’s certainly not a full-on peanut flavour, but it is enough to blend well with the chocolate and the peanut chunks add some extra flavour and crunch.

DANA’S TIPS AND TRICKS:

If you want your Oreo Bark in perfect squares, place the blade of your knife in hot water for 30 seconds. Dry the blade well and place it against the bark to score the bark and let the heat of the blade melt a line into the bark. This will be an exercise in patience but it will make clean lines.

Cadbury White Chocolate Bar 90g

The strawberry layer adds a nice tang, but it’s not sharp like the raspberry layer in the Dark Chocolate Raspberry bar. Rather than balancing the sweetness, the tang almost emphasises it.
