About this deal

Does it work? This one is the darkest of all the shorts, with an on-screen good guy death that is particularly heartrending. But at the same time, because the protagonists are so low (literally: they are in a pit), the eventual victory feels particularly cathartic. Like “In the Stars,” this one focuses on people rising up and triumphantly overthrowing the Empire. Unlike “In the Stars,” there are a lot of characters so it takes on a more macro view, which may or may not work depending on if you like more relationship-driven narratives. “Aau’s Song” Emotions are understandably high for everyone in the moments between the final demise of the Death Star and the wedding of Leia and Han, and author Beth Revis does a great job diving into those small but impossibly human moments after a brutal moment in war. The Star Wars L0-LA59 (Lola) Animatronic Edition from Hasbro's Star Wars collection lets kids and fans alike bring home a beloved droid companion. This Star Wars toy features design and deco inspired by the Obi-Wan Kenobi live-action series on Disney+. Touch the censor on L0-LA59's head to activate more than 45 different light, sound, and movement combinations through 3 modes of play.

Stars: Once again, this short takes place on a singular planet — and a desert one at that! (Star Wars does love its deserts). Not many stars, even when it turns to night. They're based in convenient locations including supermarkets, newsagents and train stations. Plus they're often open late and on Sundays.

We were very inspired by that, and wanted to discover if we could use the medium of CG to make it an integral part of the story. By trying to imbue our visuals with beauty and expressiveness, you end up with a great and enjoyable journey for the audience.” Wars: All we really know is that the Empire is conquering this planet and that they are looking out for Force sensitive children to capture. It’s not an explicit war, so much as it is a reminder of the Empire’s omnipresence. Regardless of how much you love or hate it, this spring's Disney Plus series Obi-Wan Kenobi got a lot of attention. Some consider it a welcome return to something that felt more like classic Star Wars adventuring, while others would have preferred something a little grittier. Lola appeared in " Sith," the first episode of Star Wars: Visions ' second volume, which premiered on Disney+ on May 4, 2023. She was voiced by Úrsula Corberó. [1] Appearances [ ] Does it work? Seeing this side of the Rebellion — one relying on subterfuge and reconnaissance instead of fighter pilots and guns — is incredibly fascinating. From the dance hall to the dancers themselves, “The Spy Dancer” paints an evocative picture of how espionage would work in this setting. The characters are also very compelling, especially Loi’e, a seasoned spy who has a personal reason to hate the Empire and a mission she wants to fulfill. “The Bandits of Golak”Visions: The animation has this lovely painterly quality, with certain shadows and lighting looking particularly cool. But the best part is towards the end, where a character you would not really expect to be a Jedi whips out a lightsaber and fights the Sith inquisitor who has come to collect Rani. Star Wars: Timelines dates the events of Obi-Wan Kenobi to 9 BBY. Therefore, the events of " Part II," including the death of L0-LA59 above Daiyu, must be set in 9 BBY. In 0 BBY, [4] Lola was destroyed during the Disaster along with everyone else on Alderaan. Years later, after having become engaged to Corellian Han Solo, the now grown up Leia remembered Lola when she thought of the small things she'd lost due to Alderaan's destruction. [10] Characteristics [ ]

So what happened to Leia's little red companion as she grew up? Why isn't it hovering next to Leia as an adult, ready to deliver the Death Star plans instead of R2-D2? The real-world answer, of course, is that Lola didn't exist in Star Wars canon until this year. But thanks to a single sentence in the most recent Star Wars novel, we have an in-universe answer for why Lola isn't around during the events of A New Hope and what fate befalls this cute little toy-like companion. Stars: Even though this short takes place on one planet, there are impressive skyscapes — but it’s a little more on the blue skies and clouds side than stars. Stars: No stars here! This one takes place on a metropolitan planet, so it’s all city buildings and narrow streets instead. Lola was first pictured in a Volkswagen commercial that showcased the ID. Buzz, [12] a car that was made in collaboration with Lucasfilm Ltd. to promote the Obi-Wan Kenobi television series. [13] She first appeared in the first episode of the series, which was released on May 26, 2022. [14] She was first identified as L0-LA59 in a StarWars.com article announcing Lola products that were revealed at Celebation Anaheim, 2022. [15]Jacqui Lopez [vice president of production at Lucasfilm and executive producer of Visions] gave me a call and let me know about this second volume of Visions,” recounts Blaas to StarWars.com. While Volume 1 of Visions had been comprised of the work of nine different Japanese animation studios, this new season would open the anthology up to the entire world. Nine new global studios would be part of Volume 2, with Spain's El Guiri Studios among them.

Stars: Not a lot here since 95% of this short takes place in a towering dance hall. Think that scene in Revenge of the Sith where Palpatine and Anakin talk about Darth Plagueis (and also watch Squid Lake). Does it work? The visuals in “Sith” are incredibly evocative from the very beginning, when Lola wakes up in an almost stark white room. At the beginning of the short, it’s unclear where the Sith fit in, since Lola just appears to be a painter determined on finishing a mural. The darkness creeps up here — quite literally as Lola can’t quite get rid of the darkness in her paint. “Sith” uses every bit of its visuals to push the story forward. And painting using the Force? Amazing, talented, wonderful, just plain awesome. I want more eclectic uses of the Force! “Screecher’s Reach”Deborah Chow] didn't even pitch the entire show to me, but just said, 'There's a little girl and she's going to have this droid that's like a toy or companion. This would be the baby version of R2-D2." ―Jon Borland [11]
