About this deal

Lekto offers kiln dried firewood made from birch and oak, both of which have been heated in a kiln to remove any dampness from the wood. This means that the wood has a moisture content below 20% that allows it to burn more cleanly, producing more heat and less smoke than wet wood. When deciding between firewood vs briquettes it helps to think about the following factors: Artificial logs provide a higher energy output than regular firewood, meaning you get more heat for your money. The compressing process creates a log that is denser than non-compressed wooden logs and therefore has a higher heat output. The higher density of the logs means that less air passes through the logs, resulting in greater combustion efficiency. Ideal for use with other Lekto products: Get the fire started with our natural firelighters and kiln dried fire kindling, and add a few of our hardwood heat logs alongside your firewood to increase heat output and burn time. You can also use them alongside sawdust briquettes. So, deciding between firewood vs briquettes doesn’t necessarily have to be a case of choosing one over the other. You can in fact use both alongside each other. Properties of wood briquettes Our premium quality firewood, kindling, charcoal, and briquettes are 100% sustainably and ethically produced here in the UK. So fire up with confidence and enjoy a fast, efficient, enduring heat. The propeller and the forming cylinder are specially treated with wear-resistant materials, which can be running continuously, wear-resistant, and have a longer service life.

While this Duraflame fire log is smaller than some, it creates a soothing fire and very little smoke. Plus, we estimated that the temperature in the shop went up about 10 degrees during the testing process. The raw materials with irregular shapes and sizes are conveyed into the crusher and crushed into particles no more than 3-5 mm. It is a hammer mill usually, and the material is sent out by air. Drying Making the switch from gas to renewable energy has never been easier. Our high-quality log briquettes are made from sawdust and are sustainably produced right here in the UK. An agricultural by-product, these sawdust briquettes are 100% environmentally friendly, giving you a safe and guilt-free way to heat your home. While Pine Mountain StarterLoggs aren’t made to produce a fire on their own, we found they helped get a wood fire to start burning. The chunk we started the fire with burned out in about 15 minutes, but we had a roaring fire by then. Keep these handy near a wood-burning fireplace, stove, or outdoor fire pit, and start wood fires easily. They’re compressed into firewood logs with a hollow tube through the center for easy combustion. This means your fire will be hotter and burn longer for optimal heat indoors or outdoors.

Properties of wood briquettes

Authentic look & aroma: If you can’t resist the authentic glow of a roaring fire built with chunky logs then traditional kiln dried firewood has to be the option for you. Our chunky split logs have a beautifully rustic look and emit a pleasant aroma that fills the room.

What I can do is estimate my Kw value from all the wood that i do shred and use on the fire before deciding to invest in a machine driven Cider press of similar make at a later date. They come in a molded cube of four pieces and contain ground biomass and nutshells held together with a wax binder. We broke off a quarter of the cube (grooves make it easy to break off chunks), and then placed it beneath some logs in the fireplace. By far, our favorite pressed logs are the denser heat-pressed logs. Made from reclaimed hardwood sawdust, these logs are formed with heat and very high pressure to make a super-dense, high-BTU, and long-burning fuel.

Firewood vs briquettes - Which is best for me?

It depends on the log. Some are suitable for use in stoves, and some aren’t. We found that the instructions on the wrapper always mentioned where we could burn the log and where we couldn’t. Q. How long do fire logs burn for?

Some types of fire logs can be combined with real wood logs to enhance the fire experience, but always read the usage instructions before combining the two. In some cases, adding real wood can result in the fire log smoldering rather than burning, which could lead to excessive fireplace smoke emissions. I've got a Stainless steel hand driven cider press which presses the juice out of apples to make what is called the "Cake" (more compost) with the juice extracted, and it also make the Cheese by extracting the Whey water from the curdled milk. More you press out the water the harder the cheese. And other cooking: This type of wood fuel is also very well suited to cooking over fire pits and chimineas. Kiln dried birch burns with a sweet, natural aroma that’s great for infusing the flavour of food with a mild, smokey flavour. Large-scale wood log briquetting machines are mainly used in large-scale industrial production projects, so the stability of the equipment is very high. The stamping briquette machine is equipped with a cooling system and an automatic control system, which is stable in operation, low in energy consumption, and high in output. In addition, it is easy to maintain and is the best choice for large-scale projects.

Please note, all timber supplied by Cozilogs is sourced from 100% virgin UK forestry areas, which are fully traceable and grown in sustainableWoodlands. 10) High energy output

Artificial logs contain sawdust, wood chips, and wood shavings that are (usually) combined with a wax-based binder and squeezed together to form logs. The majority of the ingredients in artificial briquettes would otherwise end up in a landfill, which is another great reason to use them! As they are made from recycled wood waste, this helps reduce the strain on forests and other woodlands. 4) Choose for a cleaner burn High density combined with low-moisture also equates to low-ash residue. Low ash means less mess and less cleaning up! This was a challenging fire log to test because we’d just had the chimney sweep out to clean the chimney a few weeks before we tested the fire logs. We had no absolute way of knowing whether the Creosote Buster was effective or not at cleaning the chimney, but we suspect it helped reduce some soot buildup. We tested it after we’d tested all the other fire logs and did a visual inspection of the chimney before and after using the Creosote Buster. We think the chimney looked slightly cleaner after use. For course sawdust I just add it to the paper pulp and turn the hose into the mix until it looks about right, it should be very a very sloppy slurry so the mixer can do its stuff.

Buying options:

Fire logs emit less carbon monoxide than real wood fires. Studies have shown that fire logs emit lower levels of potentially harmful toxins than when burning natural wood. Q. Are fire logs suitable for stoves?
