About this deal

Compared to similarly-priced products, such as the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom, it isn’t quite as insightful across the board. We’d like more texture to each instrument, so this speaker can really show off the shimmer of cymbals or the throbs of bass guitars.

This is handy if you’re going to be working in a booth with limited space. Build Quality and Design Credit: Minirigs The MiniRig 3 is a portable, rechargeable speaker intended for life on the move. If you take your music with you to bars and booths around your city, then this device will ensure you never have to compromise on volume or sound quality. A: You could leave the speaker permanently on charge but its not recommended, unless it's absolutely necessary such as an installation when there Minirig is fixed in place and not easily accessible. Leaving your Minirig on charge 24/7 will shorten the battery life but only over the course of years. Its much better for the battery if you charge it overnight when its low, this will also save your electricity bill and the planet. Keeping a USB charging adapter on 24/7 wastes power. A: You can use your Minirig charger in a foreign country without the need for a voltage adapter. As long as you are using a 5V charging cable, it will work fine. connectivity A. The new MRBT-2 Minirig comes with the latest Bluetooth 4.2 software with improved stability. Unfortunately, this means the MRBT-2 will not pair with the original Bluetooth Minirig (pre-March 2017) in wireless stereo. If this is relevant to you, visit our support section for more information. They are still 100% compatible via aux (cable) mode and will work together as a wired stereo 2.1 system with the Minirig subwoofer.

However, the provided cable does allow you to use the Minirig’s battery to charge your mobile devices. There’s enough juice onboard to fully charge an iPhone 6 Plus once or an iPhone 4S twice. In conclusion, if you want something portable and battery-powered for DJing that looks, feels and sounds professional, the Minirigs have stand alone – and the current Minirig 3 plus subwoofer combination is the company’s best yet. Despite its (mainly software) limitations, it is still our favourite such speaker system for DJing and overall use. Although it’s unlikely you’ll get 100 hours all the time, there’s a good chance you won’t need to recharge the MiniRig 3 speakers too often between playing sessions. In this MiniRig 3 portable review, we’re looking at one of the most compact Bluetooth speakers that the brand has to offer.

A. Yes, they will pair in wireless stereo and can be connected via aux cables. However, for the best sound we recommend using two of the same products. Also, the Minirig 3 in high gain mode is 6db louder than all other Minirig products so there will be a volume level difference in high gain mode. In low gain, the volume levels are all the same. Up to a really decent volume, these sound just great. Clear, full frequency, just really special for the size. Now, when DJing, we all know the tendency is to push things louder and louder. These are small speakers, and so past a certain level, they do struggle. It’s important to point out that they reach this level at quite some volume, but eventually you get there. At that point, the audio gets harsher and the bass is severely curtailed – but there is no real distortion, and the compromises the DSP makes are the right ones. In short, they are the best you are going to get at this size for DJing. With Bluetooth Aside from the points mentioned so far, there are a handful of additional features that might make the MiniRig 3 more appealing to some professionals.
