File cribs or lateral filing rails can be fitted to some standard metal office cabinets to allow you to store files within a “normal” cabinet. A lateral filing rail will fit within the cabinet and you will need to allow space above to access the files without removing them from the cabinet while a file crib will pull-out to allow access. It is generally recommended that no more than two or three pull-out file cribs are fitted (depending on the cabinet) and that they are fitted to the lower half of the cabinet to prevent the cabinet from becoming top heavy. Top Sellers Suspension Files

Suspension filesare the most common type of hanging files that you will find in offices and workplaces. Vertical suspension files are highly popular in professional filing systems as they can be easily accessed and their tabs provide convenient file identification.

Purchasing new or replacement files for your drawers or cabinet is one of those tasks that sounds easy until you realise there is not one single standard size. Suspension file tabs are small plastic tabs that clip or slide onto the top of suspension files while tab inserts are the bits of card you label your files with and insert into the plastic tabs.Choosing the correct size of vertical suspension files might cause some confusion, so it is worth to know the size of files that you can use with filing storage equipment at your workplace. There are two sizes of vertical hanging suspension files that are available on the market: A4 hanging suspension files which overall width is 340mm and they are suitable for hangers set from 380mm to 390mm apart; the other type are foolscap vertical suspension files which are larger files with overall width of 405mm and therefore are suitable for hangers set between 380mm and 390mm apart. Rexel Foolscap Suspension Files with Tabs and Inserts for Filing Cabinets, 15mm V-base, Manilla, Blu... Rexel Foolscap Heavy Duty Suspension Files with Tabs and Inserts for Filing Cabinets, 30mm base, Pol... Suspension files are usually supplied with tabs and inserts but additional ones are available if you need to replace the tabs or inserts that originally came with the file or if you require more than one tab on each file. Creating a new insert is also a low cost way to re-organise and re-label your files. Some cabinets are adapted to accept both types of file, although this is not the norm. All of our filing cabinets specify in the description which file size they will accept. If you’re still not clear whether the cabinet will be suitable, please give our customer service team a call and they’ll be happy to help you out! Find the filing cabinet that suits you

Rexel A4 Heavy Duty Suspension Files with Tabs and Inserts for Filing Cabinets, 15mm V base, Polypro... Vertical suspension files have an open top for easy inserting and removing documents and have special hooks on both ends so that they can be fitted onto runners in desk filing drawers, filing cabinets, filing cupboards and filing trolleys. Such system allows placing multiple suspension files on the same runners which reduces the amount of space required for storing files. Rexel Classic Foolscap Reinforced Suspension Files for Filing Cabinets, 15mm V base, 100% Recycled C...Kraft paper suspension files are similar to manilla files but are made with enhanced strength kraft paper. This card-quality material is extremely difficult to rip and feature a laminated reinforced base to provide extra strength and durability. As with manilla suspension files, premium quality kraft files are usually supplied with tabs and card inserts for labelling. They also have a wrap-over bar design to protect fingers and are available in different colours in v-base or square base styles. Lateral file cabinets have much wider drawers than a standard cabinet but are not as deep. Each drawer is fitted with two sets of suspension runners for storing two runs of files side-by-side. Fireproof cabinets When choosing a filing cabinet the most important thing is making sure you get the right size cabinet for your files, especially if you are replacing an existing cabinet or using old files. Foolscap vs. A4 Narrow cabinets that store papers horizontally without the need for suspension files. Lateral filing cabinets Different suspension files have varying capacities. The most popular standard files (with a V-bottom)have a capacityof 15 mm of documents per file. If you have overloaded or over-crowded files you should consider the larger capacity square bottom files with either a 30 mm or 50 mm gusset.

Need help in choosing the correct suspension files for your filing cabinet or drawers, or lateral files for your cupboard or tambour unit? Hopefully thisfour step guide will help: If you have a file handy, measure the width of the cardboard on the file. If it measures to 360mm (14.1 inches) then you are using foolscap. A measurement of 305mm (12 inches) would be an A4 size suspension file. How To Measure Suspension FilesWithout a file available, you can measure the distance between the rails. In Australia, the majority of business filing cabinets, pedestals and drawerstake foolscap (FC) size files. The IKEA® brand and other European manufactured file drawers typically require the smaller A4 size files. A4 is slightly smaller than foolscap, as such, cabinets designed for A4 only are usually narrower so may be a better option if you’re short of space.
