When this device was launched, the general consensus was, “It looks great, I love it… but what would I use it for?” Built-In Drive – A built-in SATA drive bay allows you to store your music within the controller. The controller also supports USB and SD cards. This gives you full flexibility in how you want to manage your music collection. Outside of a single AUX input, there are no connections for external devices. This is meant to be an “in the box” device, so you won’t find RCA ports for turntables or CDJs. You can use it with your laptop as a controller, but only with Rekordbox in performance mode… there’s no Serato this time.

The Denon Prime series players that include an inbuilt mixer such as the Prime 2, Prime 4 and Prime GO give the users the ability to change the mode of the EQ. The EQ has two settings to chose from, Isolator and EQ and these can be changed in the system preferences. The Pioneer XDJ XZ is Pioneer’s high-end option for standalone gear. They have managed to cram a lot of features into this controller. Developing a system that allows pro DJs to use a close-to-club setup in the studio without needing an expensive Nexus setup.

If you already have a preference, this part is easy. If you’re already maintaining a library in either Rekordbox or Engine, and you’re happy in that ecosystem, you know where to aim. The Go is fully up to the Denon technical specs at least when it comes to the outputs. Enjoy the quality sound of the unit and have fun mixing! But please note that no matter how well Denon designed it and the exceptional value it provides, it is not immune to misuse.
