So this week I finally gave this album a spin, and to be honest I am still wondering what the hype was all about.

What are good-sounding yet sensibly-priced releases (vinyl and CD) for each of Pixies’ first four full-length albums (DL, SR, BSN, TLM)?Compact disc, grab anything. None of their mastering's have been bastardized by modern compression. Spare a thought for the poor saps in the US importing this release on some pretence its a sure fire guaranteed better press than their possibly even shoddier US cut. The feeling that chaos was about to erupt was palpable": Thurston Moore's memoir Sonic Life is a fascinating insider account of life-changing outsider art, and one music geek's insatiable lust for the loud To avoid opening yet another Pixies’ album pressing views, I’m bumping the still opened threads (you’ll see them repeated, sorry) not with “what’s the best” and rather: It's well made and has probably aged better than Smashing Pumpkins. If I'd owned a copy in the 90s and let it get under my skin I might appreciate it more but it's too dense to consume and appreciate in a couple of listens. I'm not going to score this week.
