About this deal

Cute and funny in places but also quite confusing sometimes. I can't tell if there is supposed to be a thread to follow and it is difficult to read some of the writing. I'm not sure how this is supposed to be a parody of The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse because it doesn't follow a narrative or use the same format like The Woman, the Mink, the Cod and the Donkey does. The only similarity here is the font type. Are you tired of cheerfully oblivious aspirational books? Do you feel a bit grumpy when someone won't let up on the positivity? Is the worst problem in your life a bleedin' optimist who just won't let you have time to process the general awfulness?

The surely soon-to-be million-copy bestselling sort-of inspirational parody.. Enter the world of me, Panda, plus my sometime-friends Cat and Teddy. You will find us living our best lives, trying (and occasionally succeeding) to be kind to each other. Despite the cute cover and illustrations throughout, this is definitely intended for adults who can cope with strong language from panda bears. This is my first book by Paul Magrs for some time and I was glad to reacquaint myself with his razor sharp wit.

I think the whole point of making books is to make the world a better place. I am here to lighten your load just a little bit. And so is the cat. The cat’s quite nice. He can be a bit selfish sometimes, I suppose.” This is amongst other things a parody of that book and it is funny. If you have ever had a moment of irritation at some one else being tiresomely upbeat please give this book a read and Paul Magrs some money. I’ve been having bad days. Like really bad ones. Bumping into this book, I’m considering a proper bliss. I smiled, laughed and loved. This book defines “Feels like a warm hug”. So many quotes I loved and would love to share with everyone but unable to. Might share a separate post of favourites. Such dreamlike artistic illustrations, I’ve been swooning over! I love it. Genuinely… Really appeals to my warped sense of humour.’– Gary Andrews, author of Finding Joy Some examples of the kind of humour in the book: ( TBH, these are the only three lines I actually found a tad funny. The rest were atrocious.)

I loved it and laughed a great deal. It may prove a perfect gift for my friends that are able to appreciate its cheeky humour this Christmas. This title is supposed to be taken lightly and make you feel that it's okay to feel the negative range of emotions that you do. I loved the colour palette and the illustrations.💕

This is a book of nice illustrations and some words from which you will likely gain some sort of inspiration. Like: 'Just because you're struggling, it doesn't mean you're failing... But it might do. 'Nothing beats kindness,' said the cat. The gentle and reassuring traditions of classic children’s books lovingly observed, and then gleefully profaned. Are you sitting comfortably? Well, that was probably your first mistake.’The gentle and reassuring traditions of classic children's books lovingly observed, and then gleefully profaned. Are you sitting comfortably? Well, that was probably your first mistake.' Is Teddy misunderstood or is Panda just a vicious sod? Si Hart gets drawn into Paul Magrs’ world of snowy days, picnics and gin! It's basically a parody of The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse (which I also loved). Whereas that was full of inspiring and thought provoking writing, this book explores our reality. We can't be perfect all the time and sometimes we are like Panda and just don't give a shit.

Magrs’ glee in spoofing The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse is evident throughout the The Panda, The Cat and The Dreadful Teddy. Magrs’ artwork is an utter delight. It is simple but perfect, striking just the right balance between being childlike and more sophisticated than it seems at first glance. Likewise, the text is never a cruel spoof, but it is extremely funny. At almost every turn, Panda smashes Teddy’s optimistic outlook with a witty retort or more often than not a raft of expletives that never fail to bring a smile. This is one very sweary Panda! Hilarious book bought for a friend who loves pandas. A little disappointed that the book has scuffed corners on the spine and a dirty mark on the front of the book, especially as it's a gift It is delightfully illustrated by the author. At the end there is a photo of the real life Panda, Cat, and Teddy. Thank you to @tandemcollectiveuk @harpercollinsuk and @pmagrs for the gifted copy of 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑷𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒂, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑪𝒂𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑫𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒇𝒖𝒍 𝑻𝒆𝒅𝒅𝒚 🐼🧸😻 I absolutely loved it! It might appeal to anyone who finds constant use of the F word amusing but in my opinion it is totally unnecessary and the book is about as amusing as having ones leg amputated A horrible book.
