About this deal

Always seal the container immediately after use as the fluid absorbs moisture from the atmosphere quite rapidly; this will reduce service life significantly.

DOT4+ Brake Fluid, Where do you find it? | Mercedes-Benz Forum

The International Standards Organization (ISO) classifies a few other grades of brake fluids under their ISO 4925 document: Class 3, Class 4, Class 5.1, and Class 6.Manufacturers have been labeling their DOT3 and DOT4 products as "synthetic" as many consumers associate this with higher performance or quality similar to motor oil. But ALL brake fluids can be called synthetic. You can mix any of them except for DOT5. Even DOT5.1 is OK since this also a glycol based fluid. Brake fluid is a central part of your brake system. It lubricates the internal mechanisms of the system and transfers the force your foot exerts on the pedal into the clamping force that stops your vehicle. For this reason, standards are put in place to ensure that the fluid meets key criteria and allows your brake system to work as designed. The requirements for brake fluid is defined by a few internationally recognized standards organizations. So the Manual says to change the brake fluid every 30K with DOT 4+... I can find DOT 3, 4 and even 5 but cannot find DOT 4+.. where do I get it other than the MB Dealer?

When you are riding at speed you want to be sure that your brakes aren’t going to let you down and that a braking failure isn’t the penultimate experience of your life.I can see where the confusion is coming from. Amsoil's big claim to fame of exceeding all the specs of the brake fluid is right if the temperatures you are trying to beat are dry boiling temps. But ah lass, they are not. they are the wet boiling temps of the fluid. Brake fluid is subjected to very high temperatures, especially in the wheel cylinders of drum brakes and disk brake calipers. It must have a high boiling point to avoid vaporizing in the lines. This vaporization creates a problem because vapor is highly compressible relative to liquid, and therefore negates the hydraulic transfer of braking force - so the brakes will fail to stop the vehicle. [14] You will have a hard time though to find a DOT4+ other than MB just because this is not a standard. In Europe some alternatives are the MOL EVOX DOT4+, MOL EVOX DOT 5.1 or OMV Brake Fluid DOT 5.1. In US, all brake fluids must meet Standard No. 116; Motor vehicle brake fluids. Under this standard there are three Department of Transportation (DOT) minimum specifications for brake fluid 3, 4 and 5.1. Most of the cars manufactured after 2006 use DOT4 brake fluid. for the purpose of replacement fluid in our W211s, glycol based DOT 5.1 and Dot4+ are essentially the same thing".
