It just didn’t give what it wanted to give 😕 or what I expected it to give, I guess. This is one of those very rare cases, even tho it’s been twenty years since I’ve seen the movie, that I would say the movie was better. 🤷🏻‍♀️ año después, empieza a suceder una serie de hechos que les demostrará que no son los únicos que saben qué hicieron el último verano. Having said that, I did enjoy this story. It has also become kind of iconic, so clearly, she had something here. Duncan was best known for her novels of suspense for teenagers. Some of her works have been adapted for the screen, the most famous example being the 1997 film I Know What You Did Last Summer, adapted from her novel of the same title. Other made-for-TV movies include Stranger with My Face, Killing Mr. Griffin, Don't Look Behind You, Summer of Fear and Gallows Hill. Murphy, Bernice (2009). The Suburban Gothic in American Popular Culture. Palgrave Macmillan. ISBN 978-0-230-21810-9.

Over the course of that year Benjamin Willis emerging from the marina began doing his homework on the four Southport 1996 graduate youths who proceeded to run him over and then attempt to cover it up. Non so, comunque, se lo definirei young adult. Sì, i protagonisti sono adolescenti, ma mancano tutte le tematiche che fanno dello YA, beh... lo YA.

Sarah Michelle Gellar is Helen and I thought she did a better job than Hewitt actually. She of course went on to star in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which I have never seen though I’ve heard great things.

In the book, Barry is shot in the stomach, however he does live. He is just hospital bound for the rest of the book. Helen is threatened by the brother and he reveals who he is. She gets away from him by jumping out her window on the second floor but survives. In the movie, Barry is hit by a car and is in the hospital but is released soon. He is later killed. Helen is being chased by the fisherman and jumps out of a window like in the book. However, she too ultimately is killed. Her sister Elsa is also killed in the movie. In both book and movie, Elsa is shown to not be very nice and in the book, Julie even suspects she might be involved, but nothing really happens with her. Changes to Characters This film was unofficially remade in India by Anil V. Kumar as Kucch To Hai (2003), starring Tusshar Kapoor. [52] [53] However, in an interview to Hindustan Times Kapoor denied that the makers of his film copied this particular film. [54] [55] Sony Pictures Home Entertainment released the film on Blu-ray for the first time on July 22, 2008, with additional special features including the director's short film, Joyride. [48] On 30 September 2014, Mill Creek Entertainment re-released the film on Blu-ray as a budget disc, featuring the film alone with no bonus materials. [49] On September 27, 2022, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment re-released the film for the first time on Ultra HD Blu-ray for its 25th anniversary. In 1973, Lois Duncan's I Know What You Did Last Summer was published. It was republished as a tie-in to the film in 1997 and once again in 2018 with some of its content modernized. The film adaptation reenvisioned the story of the novel as a violent slasher film, as opposed to the slow-burn mystery nature of the novel. In and of itself the book is just ok. It’s nothing special, nor seems to have anything significant to make it as much of a YA icon it was and is. Characters are cliched. The story is thin. The eventual climax leaves a lot to be desired in terms of closure.

Brianne Tju as Margot, the millionaire and best friend of Johnny and Lennon, although she is attracted to her. She is part of what happened last summer. In the book, Julie and Ray go. When they visit her, the sister is very nice and chatty. In both, we learn that the mom is somewhere else in a home because the death of her son was so hard on her. In the book it isn’t creepy at all, but Julie feels terrible knowing all the pain they caused from that night. Lois Duncan’s Opinion of Movie I Know What You Did Last Summer was a screenplay written by Kevin Williamson several years beforehand, which was then rushed into production by Columbia Pictures upon the success of the Williamson-written Scream (1996). [10] It was based on the 1973 novel of the same name by Lois Duncan, a youth-oriented suspense novel about four young people who are involved in a hit-and-run accident involving a young boy. [11] Producer Erik Feig pitched the idea of a screen adaptation to Mandalay Entertainment, and subsequently appointed Williamson to retool the core elements of Duncan's novel, rendering a screenplay more akin to a 1980s slasher film [4] [11] Inspired by his father, who had been a commercial fisherman, Williamson changed the setting of the novel to a small fishing village, and made the villain a hook-wielding fisherman. [6] The first messages are ambiguous enough that the gang is concerned but not sure whether it isn't just some prank that they're reading too much into -- especially since there are no real threats accompanying them.
