About this deal

These 2 caps are marked as C9 and C15 on the Joyo PCB. C9 is immediately below the top left hand pot (fuzz) in the gutshot in post 1. C15 is below the mid-cut switch and off to the right. These caps correspond to C7 and C12 on the ggg schematic. Another useful new feature of the OC-5 is the octave-up effect, with can be used in both Vintage and Poly modes. You can crate octave-down effects for extended chord voicings, as well as unique solo tones, and even make your electric sound like a faux 12 string guitar. Joyo is constantly adding new ranges and products to its lineup of pedals. However, they have 3 main pedal series which have been around for a while now. These three ranges (or “series”) of pedals include the: I wirden them in parallel to GND, so the Pot contol how much signal is send to GND and the cap sets the frequncy response. The bigger the cap the more Bass and less trebble you get which was exactly what I had in mind when doing this. Apparently the polarity of those two 10mf coupling caps are reversed (on purpose?) on Fulltone's Ultimate Overdrive, and the Joyo appears to be an exact clone of that, not of the Foxx Tone Machine. Those 47n and 100n caps are also switched on the two. I'm going to wire my Joyo both ways and see what the diff is...

When I initially saw the Joyo Roll Boost, I was convinced that it was a clone of the MXR Micro Amp. However, I was wrong. In fact, the Joyo Roll Boost is a clone of the MI Audio Boost and Buff pedal. Which is actually very similar to the MXR Micro Amp. It is important to note that the Roll Boost is not a clone of the new MI Audio Boost and Buffs. But, rather it is a clone of the older versions which featured only the gain control. Just like the Roll Boost by Joyo does. The reason I choose Joyo clone pedals to be on my board is that they’re cheap enough for me to step on them like I don’t care, which Is what happens with regular gigging, touring, and practicing. also I notice I can get some radio station interferrance.....is that because I have screwed something up or is it just how things go ?For the purposes of this clone list, I will be discussing only the 10 and 30 series of pedals. The reason I haven’t included the Iron Man series is that these mini pedals are supposed to hold their own. And whilst they very well may be clones, I’m much more equipped to discuss the 10 and 30 series.

Joyo JF‌-12 Voodoo Octave Guitar Pedal Review (2023)

Actually thats not quite right, the Joyo resistor is indeed 100K, not 51K. So if you swap the positions of the 47nF and 100nF caps you end up with the Foxx Tone Machine schematic, except for the pot values and the switchable 1n/33n caps for the "mid cut". I swapped the 47n/100n caps, (the 47n goes in the left position and the 100n on the right) it improves the tone and makes the tone control more user friendly. I put in a 4n7 to replace the 1n on the mid cut switch. I think the circuit is working how it should now, going from youtube demos. Would it be possible to get someone to mark up the original picture to indicate what needs to be done to make the octave effect more prominant. Because I know for sure that they are clones. And, I own as well as used extensively, these two series of pedals. Okay, I changed my mind. After much deliberation and debate with myself. I have decided to add the Ironman series of pedals to this Joyo pedal clone list. The Mooer Pure Octave is a mini-size octave pedal with versatile blending options and a wide choice of octave modes. It comes with eleven different octave settings with up to five available octaves in a single setting. This pedal will easily fit in any pedalboard and stay there for a while thanks to its rugged metal chassis. A good choice for those with very limited space. Features This is a musical octaver without unwanted glitches in lower notes and chords, allowing you to transform your electric guitar into a 12-string, a bass, or even a church organ.I have some tips for those who are new to modding, and anyone who does this mod and simply doesn't think about things like this: Bought it and wasn't really excited with its tone. I really don't understand what goes where in a pedal, but I do ok with a soldering iron, so any ideas for little mods (with easy enough instructions ) are really welcome. Another Xotic clone by Joyo. This time, in the form of the Rated Boost. The rated boost clones to ever popular RC Booster by Xotic. This is one of those boosts that doesn’t necessarily provide more overdrive, but rather a boost to your signal. Making pretty much everything you play sound awesome.

To conclude it's a good product if you want to test the octafuzz tone at a low price unlike vintage reissues (and even more with only vintage ones), however it will necessarily need to be replaced. It's a nice stuff to begin, but a bit too 'cold' compared to vintage records. The toggle switch for cutting out the mid-range of your tone is also useful for getting a sound that works best with your rig or the song you're playing. It alters the sound just enough so that more possible tones are provided. While its effects are technically not the best in the market, they perform way better than other pedals at the price range and will definitely deliver great tones that your audience will enjoy. I also wanted to know if anyone switched trannies to germanium, this thing has way too fuzz for me...any other ways to do this? Seems like if the fuzz knob is past 20% its too much.Part of this 10 Series by Joyo, are some amp simulator clones. The originals are made by Tech 21 Sansamp. Who are well known for their amp simulation and preamps. These Joyo’s are great clones of these Tech 21 amp sims. They can also be used in multiple ways. Firstly you can use them as a normal stompbox to achieve the tones of your favorite amps. Secondly, you can use these as a preamp straight into a PA system. And lastly, you can use these as a preamp for recording purposes. The Donner Harmonic Square has 7-octave modes that you can switch by turning the main knob: ±2, ±3, ±4, ±5, ±7, 1 octave, and 2 octaves. All of this is housed in a very compact aluminum alloy chassis that will easily fit on any pedalboard and be able to take road and gig punishment. I thought I also saw somewhere that the Voodoo Octave version has had this item fixed as opposed to the ultimate octave version. Can anyone confirm as I would still like to get more octave sound out of the pedal than is currently available. Little Blaster pedal by Joyo is a smaller version of the Crunch distortion (in the 10 series). Furthermore, is a clone of the MI Audio Crunch Box. See the 10 series for more on this pedal. Joyo Voodoo Octave - Review of JF-12 Fuzz Effect Pedal

Now, this may be a stupid question, but what kind of transistors are on the circuit of this pedal? Could they be replaced with germanium trannies to make it sound like an octaved Supafuzz/Tonebender mkII? Cuz, that would be really really sweet. Modulation is not complete without a phaser effect. What better way of adding this effect to your pedalboard in this tiny enclosure with an array of parameters to play with. It would seem as though this Nebulous Phaser by Joyo is not a clone of any phaser pedal. I’d be lying if I said the Purple Storm was a clone of the Jimi Hendrix Fuzzface. But, I’m very sure that this Joyo Purple Storm draws a lot of inspiration from that very pedal. There is still plenty of distortion, sustain and grunge that's for sure, maybe more. To me it sounds a lot lot better. Probably the same basic sound but easier to hear the grunge and distortion. Like if you had a blanket over your speaker box and then took it off. Difficult to explain. The control section looks similar to other octave fuzz pedals out there, yet I think it is still necessary to underline the functions of each knob. Joyo JF-12 Voodoo Octave has an intuitive layout that can be figured out without reading the instructions or manual. Everything speaks to yourself even with the first glance, letting you know what to expect. Finding the perfect settings will take you little to no time, and leave more for diving into all the different sounds. Let’s discuss everything in-depth and see what we have here. I rotated the caps and it sounds a lot better! Now I think it's pretty usable. I didn't try the swap on those other two, because I don't have much practice with this mods, and it took me hours to remove the caps that need to be rotated lol! They seem hard to remove, so maybe I'll take to my tech to made this one. Would you care to describe what's the difference after the swap?
