Now that the UK has left the EU, there will be new rules from January 1, 2021 and businesses need to take action. These actions need to happen regardless of whether or not a free trade agreement is secured with the EU.
There is simply no way we can shut shop, move, and continue to work in a two week window - we don’t even know where we’re going. A year in the life of Dr Zigs , looking at our ambitions and dreams, how these have played out, and of course the challenges too and the utterly unexpected.

Dr Zigs is a family owned, ethical, eco friendly small company based in Wales. They do so much for charity and the environment, we love Dr Zigs! You can have so much fun with bubbles at home, but you really need a good bubble mixture like Dr Zigs. If you wet your hands, or a straw, in the bubble mixture, the bubbles WON’T BURST when they are touched by the wet things! So you can catch bubbles, wobble them about, you can use a wet straw to blow a bubble INSIDE a bubble! And you can blow bubbles just using your hands! I am going to do a video to show you how to do it. ENDLESS FUN – Our new mix now lasts longer than ever and delivers thousands of giant bubbles – perfect for a party, in the park, or at the beach. Today there was also ‘normal’ Dr Zigs happenings. We made a video for a presentation that I had promised a company three days ago; we tested new mix; I had news that a parcel of Bubbles heading into Ukraine, to Bucha, reached the first leg of it’s journey. We also had a great meeting with Goodwill (UK peeps look them up - they’re incredible) in Illinois. Hopefully an exciting collaboration in the works. It does frustrate me how much this eviction is taking me from my day to day stuff, but hey, at least there IS good stuff still happening. I am SO looking forward to meeting up with ALL of you wonderful friends and toy industry peeps over the next couple of weeks! And more than anything I'm looking forward to awesome buyers coming to find us :D
The outpouring of support across all channels keeps flooding in and keeps moving me, pushing us forward and validating our work. We mean so much to so many people. It’s incredibly humbling to see how a toy, how Dr Zigs, how Bubbles have become something that matters. DON’T RISK DISAPPOINTING BUBBLES. It is an honour to be a part of this world of toys. It IS emotional. And after the years we’ve had it’s been like coming home. Now, I feel like we face new territory. Like I have scaled a mountain as high as Everest. Pushing a boulder up a hill, with moments thinking I would let go, that it would overtake me, crush me. Yet, suddenly I am here. At the summit. And the world I see ahead of me is beautiful and full, so full of possibility. It’s about the love of our end user, the child, the children, who will squeal with laughter and delight, jump to pop, or just stare in wonder. It’s about the parents, who take a moment to breathe. It’s about those who use our Bubbles for giggling parties, for weddings and that most special of days, for those caring and using the Bubbles for respite, for a moment of goodness in a world of dementia, it’s about those using the Bubbles at funerals.. It’s especially about the kids in refugee camps, who for a few moments, with the Bubbles can have a moment to just be kids. And it’s about love in every aspect of what we do. Love for the process, the manufacturing, the bringing together of components and ingredients, it’s about love in the sourcing and the people involved, it’s about the hand-making of our cotton ropes, the community farmers who grow and harvest and process our bamboo, for the printers we work with, the chemists, the designers, and even (definitely) love for the tech support :D I’d like to share some of these moments with you. I have to choose only 12 of these images to use in our annual calendar that we will print and have in the office (and a few copies for any of you who would like one too). I’m finding it so hard to narrow them down and I would love your help. I’ll share a few here - but also a link to a bunch more as an album to facebook, and see which ones you all like the most. Or if you have your own personal favourites do add in the comments and share them with us too.

We’re much more eco-friendly than other makes as our non-toxic bubble mix is fully biodegradable and contains no phosphates so it’s better for the environment and for children!
Yet, that exhaustion is tinged with nostalgia already, that feel, that subtle emotion. For sharing a space, such an intense experience, with industry friends, with people living the same passion creates a complicity hard to describe. From invaluable exchanges with peers to meetings with those leading the industry, inspirations and mentors, so kind and generous with advice, encouragement and words of wisdom. Simply priceless opportunities. Three years ago we knew nothing of what the pandemic had in store for us, three years ago our sustainability message was still getting faint interest. The toy industry, emerging as if blinking in the bright lights after the years of Corona/ Covid. Slightly cautious still, but with biggest smiles and sharing huge bear hugs. The word I heard most often from old and new friends, finally solid to the touch was ‘emotional’.
