About this deal

And I'm definitely not hating on the book for no reason, I'm just giving a honest review and I honestly feel bad cause I sounded mean the whole time. Overall rate it 4.555/5✨💫 if you are into fake dating trope, celebrity fake dating, grumpyxsunshine. It’s a dual pov so it’s a plus for me so definitely recommend this book🫶 The whole book just seems so rushed. They fell in love way too fast, I don't know if it's the writing but the whole thing seems like it happened all in one week. The writing was also just meh, I've read worse but I've also read way better. I mean at least the spice is good?💀 I know for sure that it could've been way better which is why I'll probably give her books another chance (if she has other books, I'm honestly not sure).

Fake Dating Zac Delavin: A Steamy Grumpy/Sunshine Romance

As a viewer, you are constantly pulled between sighing over the sweetness of their dynamic and longing for it to finally become “real.” It’s a state of delighted tenterhooks. This movie lets its stars be true partners in crime I understand how Verena's career played into the plot, but I just did not like her being a reality show star. Just a designer would have been better. The author had a great idea about the book and since I've read the first book in the series and it was just fine I know that this book could've been wayyyy better.

I don't know, maybe it's me but maybe this book just needs more changing but I just didn't like the book. It's obvious that the author tried to make her and Mina have the tiktok personality but it's just bad. Thats probably one of things I cringed for the most. For example: if zac wasn’t going through a divorce & it was just a breakup, rather than having crazy stalker connor and instead just having a miscommunication arc, i would have loved this book sm more. it literally could have just been zac & hannah but jus w escalation towards more misunderstandings and jealousy 🧍‍♂️ Jake - A but farfetched for Verena's ex-boyfriend to be at this wedding. He just happens to he dating a friend of her future SIL that lives in Alaska when he lives in NY? I don't buy it. I do not have anything against this author, I'm saying this once again but the first book was just fine and I gave it four stars but I just didn't like this book, the writing.

Fake dating is the have-your-cake-and-eat-it-too of romantic tropes. It grants audiences all the satisfaction of seeing the central couple in an established, domestic relationship, but it doesn’t deflate the will they/won’t they tension because you are always waiting for the two fake lovers to realize that they’re actually really in love. It’s a trope that lends itself equally well to both fluff and angst. This is my first book by this author, I really do have a bad habit for not reading the previous books in the series when I see it can be read as a standalone - don’t get me wrong that was true with this book too but you also know that the previous couple are now together so they are obviously all going to be interconnected. (This one is the second in the series) Zac is a broadway star who is going through a messy divorce, which is affecting his career and leaving him damn near penny-less (HA penny 😆) < his ex wife. And why does this author write such horrendous characters? Stacy (very original name for a mean girl) is just mean for the fact of being mean, the girl that Zac is married to is just disrespectful. Like do we hate women?

In contrast, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before has both Lara Jean and Peter enter their fake relationship with their eyes open. They sign a contract in which they make their expectations toward one another clear, and they make honesty and transparency a requirement of the contract. Then Adrian and verena finally sort of got together with the whole fake dating and then Darius appears. And verena finds it a good idea to let Adrian think that she sleeps with Darius, which she doesn’t. And then she is wondering why Adrian has the GODDAMN NERVE to say that he has lunch with his ex, but verena is just so conveniently forgetting that she is rubbing Darius in his face, like wtf was Adrian supposed to do when nobody tells him that it isn’t true. And miss verena is then mad at Adrian for not telling her his feelings. Like girl why you sending mixed signals.
