About this deal

is a magnificent murder mystery/ crime thriller with a brilliant plot, a host of great characters, and the perfect atmosphere to return to the gritty and dark alleys in the late 70s. 1979 does a fantastic job of creating the environment to capture readers in its world. When a teenage joyrider crashes and ends up in a coma, a blood test reveals ties to an unsolved murder from 22 years earlier. It seems like a relatively simple case, but it will prove to be anything but. The Independent– Val McDermid adaptation hits each benchmark of a good detective thriller with the resounding thud of an assassinated key witness meeting the hard concrete of an empty car park. A Darker Domain– Twenty-five years ago, a woman and her baby son were kidnapped and held for ransom. Catriona Grant ended up dead and little Adam’s fate has remained a mystery ever since. When a new clue is discovered in a deserted Tuscan villa – along with grisly evidence of a recent murder – cold case expert DI Karen Pirie is assigned to follow the trail.
