The chocolate Misfits cereal is one of the best-smelling foods my nose has ever had the privilege of sniffing. Misfits is a very popular brand overseas, and they’re doing their best to break into the US market now as well. I’ve been reviewing protein bars long enough to know that the bars won’t actually look like that, but that is just too enticing to pass up. They are vegan, low in sugar and gluten-free. Each 40g serving provides 14g protein and weighs in at under 150 calories. I suppose that’s why they don’t list the cup measurement alongside the weight measurement on this one.

This is a chocolate cereal without the guilt. Extremely disappointed by this company's recent service. I have been a long and loyal customer. When you open the box, it smells like you just stepped into a bakery where all they bake are chocolate donuts topped with chocolate frosting. Misfits co-founder Henry Sether said the NPD and rebrand would “widen our brand appeal and allow us to branch out into more categories and territories, cementing ourselves as a leading innovator in the plant-based functional food space across the globe”. I appreciate as a company you have your eyes fixed on America right now, but don't forget your loyal customers who got you there. Based on the photos, I just couldn’t help myself. I mean, you look at the below product photo and try to tell me that it’s not one of the most delicious-looking protein bars you’ve ever seen: us.misfits.health

The NPD – which would not only target breakfastbut also midday and evening occasions – replicated “the sugary and non-nutritious cereal brands in the market, without the actual junk”, said Misfits. An overwhelming number of food products that claim to be healthy are made with artificial sweeteners – this means brands can make claims about a cereal being low-sugar whilst still tasting sweet. While that’s a typical serving size for cereal, since this one is so dense and compact, that 40g equates to very little volume. I had heard amazing things about their protein bars, but as a lover of cereal, I needed to give their protein cereal a try first. However, trying this cereal dry was very disappointing. Yes, you taste some chocolate, but it’s closer to the flavor of chocolate protein powder than it is actual cocoa powder.
