About this deal

To keep the farm and pay off the debts her father needs a bumper crop and harvest and to be able to afford this he hires a dragon. Overall an enjoyable story with an interesting world but not really for me and possibly would be a better movie than a book. Then I lived in California for college (at USC) and moved to the United Kingdom in 1999, where I’ve lived (mostly in London) ever since. I am massively disappointed because I was expecting so much more and also because I was highly anticipating this novel. An all-consuming story of revenge, redemption and dragons from the twice Carnegie Medal-winner Patrick Ness.

I found that this made section between the middle and final conflict drag as it felt like I was starting a whole new book. I have been a big fan of Patrick Ness’ work for a while now and while his books have never disappointed me I feel this has been his best one since ‘More Than This'.On a cold Sunday evening in early 1957, Sarah Dewhurst waited with her father in the parking lot of the Chevron gas station for the dragon he’d hired to help on the farm. There were too many people and too many points of views and so everything was bewildering and confusing.

Burn by Patrick Ness – The Last Book On The Left Book Review: Burn by Patrick Ness – The Last Book On The Left

The Knife of Never Letting Go is 112,900 words and took about seven months to get a good first draft. It is superb (as is the audio book) and will be an excellent addition to a secondary reader’s bookshelf.By the end the reader is left with the feeling that they have experienced something quite vast and somewhat indescribable.

And this characteristic doomed the book, in my opinion, because it felt as if the story, in the second part, was repeating itself and that made for a dragged and boring reading experience. It's something that I often observe in book as a way to develop a female character, and honestly, I'm not having it anymore. You get to hear from Malcolm about his mission as he meets a young man on his journey and shares his thoughts and his body with him.

As much as I enjoyed reading how the story unfolded during the first half of Burn, after some time I felt like things were beginning to drag on. You never know what you will get with a new Patrick Ness novel, but you can guarantee it will be utterly unique and extraordinarily beautiful. I receive a very small percentage from each item you purchase via these link, which is at no extra cost to you.Burn wanted to tackle too many topics and in doing so, it managed to approximately and superficially handle all of them. Novels are anywhere from 60,000 words on up, so it's possible that just sixty days later you might have a whole first draft. Who has been misled and who is really trying to stop a war whether that be between men or men and dragons?
