At 58, he remains a spry, balletic figure, and the character’s endless aggravation at being outsmarted by Sonic is never not funny. Lonely, restless, narcissistic, he looks to his guard dogs and a computerized security system, that speaks ”in the voice of a Singaporean opium heiress who summered in Provence,” for affection. Mixing the memoir with the misinformation, as the title suggests, is not the clearest or most powerful way Carrey might have presented the story of his life. Carrey pauses and then, slowly, that elastic smile that has sold millions of tickets over the last quarter century washes over his face.

As fresh today as it was then, Rand’s provocative novel presents one of the most challenging ideas in all of fiction—that man’s ego is the fountainhead of human progress.My father could have been a great comedian but he didn't believe that that was possible for him, and so he made a conservative choice. This would-be adaptation of John Irving’s A Prayer for Owen Meany — which the author wanted nothing to do with, and which turned out to be so different than the book that it featured a “suggested by” credit — is a bit of a fiasco, treacly, mushy, and desperate to yank on every heart string it can find by using any cheap ploy it can come up with. The Cable Guy was written off as a misfire at the time, although it’s belatedly earned cult status, and it’s a fascinating early example of the dark streak underneath the actor’s slapstick shenanigans. And given the extreme circumstances that have marked Carrey’s life, it’s sometimes difficult to sort out fact from fiction. It then devolves because the story itself isn't that compelling because nothing is taken seriously therefore you can't take it seriously either.

Memoirs and Misinformation” does carry a sense of reader connection with relatable feelings of despair, depression, being jaded, feeling inadequate, etc. The sequel to It Ends With Us (2016) shows the aftermath of domestic violence through the eyes of a single mother. The casting is quite good, and features Jim Carrey, Virginia Madsen, and Rhona Mitra; Carrey in particular gives an especially impressive performance.Carrey and his collaborator Vachon pull out all the stops as their protagonist Jim Carrey careens from midlife blues through love and career complications toward the apocalypse.
